Flowmaster Exhaust

So I've been tossing around the idea of what exhaust to go with. I fully understand that there is no real gain from this, especially in the MPG realm. Also I've done a search and only came up with Borla, MBRP, Gibson, and TRD systems. I can only assume that no one here has tried this system, yet.

2015 Toyota 4Runner Exhaust Parts - Holley . I'm curious to see any feed back other than the fact that this will not change "real" power gains, and not adding to MPG.

Then why are you doing it?

Yea I like to alter my vehicles appearance and such. I've already put a K&N intake on. Added the HIKEIT module, Eibach Lift, Method Wheels and Wildpeak Tires.

Might just pull the trigger on one of these systems for fathers day.

Personally, V6s sound horrible with aftermarket exhausts and a lot of people take them back off. You do you, but if I had money burning a hole in my pocket for a mod it would go just about anywhere else.

flowmasters have long been known to not be as free flowing as other systems. Generally magnaflow is the best. As stated above, anything 6 cylinder short of a flat top sounds like garbage with an aftermarket exhaust. The drone with the more aggressive flowmaster would probably get old after a while.

you said it yourself, you havent seen anyone with a flowmaster system on a 4runner and theres a reason. If youre looking for validation i doubt you get it here but if you genuinely want to be different then go for it. you dont need our input.

This thread has info on comparing various models on the 4R: Anyone has the Flowmaster 40 or 50 exhaust on their 5th gen?

All depends on how aggressive you want it to sound, but the more aggressive the more drone inside. I've always ran loud Flowmasters on my trucks, but would prob go with 50 series on the most aggressive side with the 4R since being an SUV you'll get more resonance inside.

spinners arent thing anymore.. wanna be different and bring those back?

You want to be different? Go to an exhaust shop tell them what you want it to sound like. They'll chop/swap off the resonator and add the tip that you want. You can even ask for a fancy dual tip setup if you want. The best part, youre supporting local and it'll cost you less than buying a full exhaust "system".

Freakin hell make it a side exit while youre at it to eliminate fumes coming in from the trunk window.

Leave it completely stock (no lift, tires or anything) and you won't be like everyone else.

Really original build so far. Really thinking outside the box.

Why go for an exhaust system that will cost you big bucks when you can get a local shop to cut off your stock muffler and weld the new one on? I have been doing that for years and it saves a ton of money. The back end of the exhaust on a 4runner has nice bends with little to no restriction.

As for Flowmasters, I love them. I usually run a super 10 on my trucks or delete the muffler and run straights off the primary cats. I went with a super 44 on my 4runner. It isn’t that loud on the outside, but sounds pretty good/deep for a 6 cylinder. It does drone, so I would recommend otherwise if you are sensitive to noise.

I have the Borla system, and if I was to do it all over again, I'd probably skip it. It sounds a little throatier on startup, but it drones on the highway. I haven't noticed any mpg or power increase. I think the muffler shop options sound like a better way to go, if you need to have more sound.
