locking hitch pin recommendation?
I'm looking for a new locking hitch pin, but the reviews I read on Amazon make every one of them sound bad. My current one, which is < 1 yr on the truck, is rusted all to hell, and looks like crap. I typically just have a beavertail on the hitch, but have towed a motorcycle a few times, so it doesn't get a lot of use.
Any suggestions on one that won't rust, or at least not for a couple of years? I do live in the Northeast, so it is what it is I guess.

infinite rule makes stainless steel hitch pins. I think their stuff looks good but I only use hitch pins to lock my ultraswing and my waterport to the truck, so not much actual stress structurally, so I use amazon hitch pins that are keyed the same

I spent the money and got a factor 55 locking pin in stainless steel. has been great and has not rusted during the winter with road salt and the lock mechanism works flawlessly

I am also using the Factor 55 locking pin - no issues and I recommend it.

They all rust eventually. If you take an extra 10 seconds to squirt some WD-40 on them every couple of months even the cheap ones will last forever. I have one that's been in use for about 15 years on 4 different trucks and is just fine.
BTW, locking hitch pins offer a false sense of security. You'd be appalled at how easy they are to defeat. Even the expensive ones. Like any other lock, they only keep honest folks honest.

I came here to say everything that he said. Just buy a cheap locking pin and spray it inside and out once or twice a year. Otherwise just get a regular pin and take out the hitch so it doesn't get stolen.

I just wouldn't leave it in there. Take it out when it's not in use.

One can break almost any locking pin in under a minute, I’ve had to break my own pins due to rust and it’s way too easy. The only ones that are somewhat secure are those that have a locking mechanism that won’t fit into a pipe and even the there ways around that.
Paclocks design and strength seem to me to the best option if theft is a major concern. Plus can be keyed alike to other locks.

I was going to say the same thing. I found out how easily they are defeated when my middle of the road grade one (it wasn't the factor 55 but also not the amazon) rusted to the point where I couldn't use it. It took me all of 5-10 seconds to break into it once I decided I couldn't unlock it.

I live in an isolated remote region. Theft isn’t an issue. But I do have a locking hitch pin that gets used only when I take my trailer to the city. Otherwise, I just use a standard hitch pin for around here.
I bought an inexpensive locking hitch pin at Harbor Freight a number of years back. It stays a short open tote where I keep other loose odds and ends, so weather isn’t an issue. I don’t leave my hitch in the receiver. I hate bruised and bloody shins.
