Yes. I removed my xreas several years ago and installed new Bil 4600's and new FJ springs and I think that gave me a little lift although I could be wrong. I added a 1" Daystar front spacer to level it. If I were to do it again I would go 5100's instead, as you can level the front w/o spacers.
I like the ride of this setup. My xreas had no gas pressure when I removed it, don't know for how long, I bought it used and probably had no gas pressure from my day one as the dealer(not Toyota) replaced one of the shocks and probably didn't know what he was dealing with.

If X-REAS is truly a passive system, as I have heard, are the front shocks simply using the rear shocks as a remote reservoir?

I don't know the real specifics of operation, but there is an "accumulator(?)" in the center of each frame rail that performs some function. It's made by Yamaha.

I got an ORP with KDSS simply because I did not want the vanilla 4Runner suspension. Have no experience with Xreas, but I imagine it does not get your passengers sea sick the way the regular suspension does. I'd stick with Xreas tbh.

Shot answer is ‘yes’ and nice versa (rear to front diagonal). Audi uses a similar setup on their RS cars (called DRC I think) and there are similar debates on those forums.
The 4r limjted is no Audi ‘RS but it is surprisingly composed from a control and handling pov.
I much prefer it on road to my ex ORP with kdss.

Should be a safe drain/fill procedures outlined.
(Forget the fill part because it’s not going back on, but you know what I mean)
Get some Bilstein 4600’s and it’s smoooooth sailing.

Good luck getting the bleed valves freed up. Mine were corroded to crap, couldnt budge them. Hence the cutters..

I went with an Ironman Foam Cell system when I went to replace my XREAS. Though I did it for the extra clearance from the 3" lift. I don't do "overlanding" but I do drive a lot of fire service roads for camping/hunting/kayaking and just wanted the extra height. Road ride is comparable but the real benefit is when on anything that isn't pavement. You can get an equally comfortable ride from a lot of aftermarket suspension systems and many of them keep the rig at stock height if you're not wanting a lift.

UPDATE:
I scored a used suspension off a 2021 with only 1500miles on it. This included UCA's, front coilovers (still assembled), rear shocks, and rear springs. All for $250!
I installed everything over the weekend, removed all of the XREAS stuff, and a local scrapper even took all of it away for me, ha. I'll be getting an alignment this week and re-torqueing everything in a few hundred miles.
I also added the 1/2" Cornfed spacers up front, since it was the perfect timing.

My XREAS have also come to the age when they will need to fly away and leave home. Most people who've switched to 5100s or any higher level suspension seem to be happy, but these are samples n=1. Has anyone been unhappy with their switch?
I am planning a no lift/very small lift switch, currently looking at 6112/5160 combo, Dobinson IMS, or (if I feel like spending) the King OEMs. I don't think I need new springs and want a relatively easy install (ie, within my skill level), so any tips/experience/feedback welcome.

I took my XREAS out at 10k miles. My 5100's have around 130k on them and still would do it again. Heck I might have to soon anyways. Not sure of the lifespan of the Bilstein's, but they're holding up insanely well.

Please keep this updated as I'm in the same boat with same options. Looking for something softer and mild lift and non rebuildable is preferable. So basically 6112/5160 combo.

I went with 2021+ TRD PRO take offs. Purchased locally off facebook marketplace. Less than 100 miles on them $1200 with the rear springs. They seem like the best option. Damping tuned to position. 1" lift for us limited trim folks. Maybe slightly more as I understand the sr5/trdoffroad/trd pro has a 1" higher rear ride height compared to our limited, and then the Fox front assembly lifts it 1" over the sr5/trd offorad. So maybe for us limited folks that translates to 2" lift front and 1" lift rear.
I'm just going to leave the hardlines on. Hopefully I find time this to DIY the install into my 2015 as the right front shock is hemorrhaging oil right now... I'm also going to keep the 32mm limited fron sway bar.
No reason for me to do a crazy lift, and when I go offroading I'm in it for the scenery and getting to a nice camping/exploring spot. I'll gladly take the easy bypass instead of the hard sketchy path.
