Possibly getting a army green TRD Sport. Add on questions...

Hello. Back on the boards.
After dealing wih my '21 VW Atlas harness issue, I think I'm ready to go back to 4runner. Loved my '15 sr5. Thinking about a TRD Sport in Army Green. I got a quote, but they are including things like:

LoJack
Perma Plate
ProPack.

The first 2 are $600. The last one is $1600.

Are these worth it? I'm thinking about getting a ceramic coat done, so will I need some of these?

lojack is a vehicle recovery theft system. I believe it uses GPS
perma plate is a company that offers a variety of protective products for interior like seats and leather
propack is the only thing you need. if you are describing it right it's the all-terrain tires, skid plates, reservoir suspension and fox shocks

whether you want item 1 and 2 are for you to research and determine if the costs are worth it. personally I wouldn't get either of them

It looks like Propack is a type of protection treatment?

I wonder if it is this: Pro Pack Protection | Safeguard Your Vehicle | Morrie's Cadillac - YouTube

I don't think it is worth the money IMO.

ya I think you guys are right. that makes more sense and fits the narrative of the first two items offered. there is a TRD pro pack though that does list those features

It all sounds dubious to me.

LoJack - If you’re worried about theft then LoJack can help recover your car but keep in mind that you do have to pay a yearly subscription for their service. There are other companies that offer this services too. If I wanted this for myself I would research companies that provide this service and then choose the one I like best. As for me I just bought some LoJack stickers on eBay for my windows and used those.

Perma Plate - I thought Perma Plate was some kind of paint and under coating but it seems like it’s just a insurance policy to keep your car clean. If you wash and clean your car on a regular basis you don’t need this but here is a review for you. https://breakingbolts.com/what-is-permaplate/

Pro Pack - Can you provide more information on what this is? Is it a parts upgrade or a coating protection?

Personally if it was me I wouldn’t pay for any of this. I rather do my own research and add them if I think they are worth the extra money.

Dealer wouldn’t be selling it if it didn’t make them profit. Plain and simple. Especially if they tell you that you can’t buy it without those things. Dead giveaway.

This.

It's all about boosting the amount they make per vehicle with high mark-up add-ons of dubious value.

Thanks for the response guys.

I put a deposit down. With all that stuff. I lost out on 2 army green Trd sports because I couldn’t decide and didn’t want to lose this one.

Ceramic paint protection is worth the cost. The others not so.

You can refuse those although you may get the high pressure sales pitch.

Reminds me of when I bought my 4Runner. Dealer included the theft protection package which is just a bunch of stickers placed throughout the vehicle. I refused to pay it and the dealer said "but we have already put all those stickers on".
I said "take them off".
Dealer finally relented and said they would not "register" with the company. He never took the stickers off. Just yesterday, when I was washing my 4Runner, I saw those stickers which reminded me of this story.

Had a vehicle stolen recently ,the insurance paid what I paid for the vehicle minus the deductible and the $400 dealer fee.
The dealer fee is that anti theft sticker ,something that I dud not even ask for.

If the vehicle had been stolen 8 months earlier I would have received $3500 from it towards a replacement vehicle.
But thieves are not accommodating.

The latest Toyotas with TSS include the ability to locate a stolen vehicle if you maintain the Safety Sense subscription (first year free). Thus, there is no longer a need for dealer applied stickers or add on costs for theft recovery services.

Although the subscription cost is considered expensive by some, there are some insurance companies that give a discount on the auto insurance if you have the subscription because a stolen vehicle is easier to recover.
