I bought a new 2021 TRD-OR last August for 45k out the door. That included a bit less than 1k off the factory and dealer invoice. It was on order for other dealer but they did SE US dealer to dealer horse trade. Other than up-charging about $45.00 for a phone charging kit, I got what I wanted. The dealer and I have done about 4 vehicles over past 12 or so years so that counts for something on their end. Wouldn't sell it for anything at this point.

Yep....I wouldn't sell that either....you got a good deal at the right time....it's a bad time to be looking right now. As mscot pointed out, it's a question of wanting but not "needing," at this point, I guess...I can justify spending maybe $3-4K out of pocket (over the trade-in value, which they way lowballed: $32,500), that would be worth it to me...but not $13K.

have you looked at other places to buy the vehicle from you or consider private sell?
the 8k was my math of your purchase equaling 46k and a sr5 base of under 38. i wasn't aware you were at 46k including taxes and fees so that was my mistake.
btw, we're still on the 5th gen so you may have better advice on how to find one near msrp on the 5th gen forum.

By "other places" do you mean like CarMax, CarGurus, et al? As I've mentioned a few times, gotten offers from all of them....good offers, too....over $35K, highest was AutoTrader at $35,900 (I paid $36,500 NEW in Nov. 2019!) So dealer offering trade-in value at $32,500, no thanks. Yeah, I expect less, but not that much less.
If you mean sell it private, as I mentioned before Tenn. sales tax is highly advantageous on trade-ins....you only pay tax on the difference; not sales tax on the vehicle. I worked out the numbers, and essentially if I sold to AutoTrader w/ their $35,900, then paid dealer offer ($43,500 + $2800 tax + $650 "vehicle charge"), it would basically come out to the same as just accepting their lowball trade-in offer of $32,500. Then I'd have to rent a car most likely for a few days....etc. Much more hassle, and honestly, not realistic I'd get that much more from a private buyer (KBB says $36-37K), but then there's the whole waiting/negotiating game....hate it.

I'm confused: when I look at the Forum listing, I see people in the 6th Gen forum talking about 2019's, 2020's, etc. Where should I be?? I can ask the moderator to move me....

Try driveway.com. They're owned by Lithia.
I made out really well on a trade for a new 4runner off road.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the vehicles I see there seem way overpriced....just like all of them these days, apparently. I entered $40K just to see, got nothing. $45K max, got maybe 2 possibilities total. They're all $48K plus.

2010 to current are 5th Gens.
The board owners added a 6th gen forum years ago when they though 2019 would be the first and have never updated it b/c it drives SEO when they finally release the 6th gen. Its aggravating and confusing.

I agree.....you old hands know what's what but newbies to the forum are going to wind up going down the wrong street. Can I have this thread moved to the correct forum?

Yeah, I guess on this forum it's not needed....probably most people generally behave, don't flame each other or turn things political. :-) I just want to be in the place where the most people will see a post that relates to them.

If you simply HAVE to buy right now and can’t wait a year or two, I got my used ORP from Beaman CDJR in Murfreesboro for a solid price (25k miles, ~$38k OTD March ‘21). I have no idea what their inventory is and I know prices are higher now than a year ago, but they were easy to work with. They also might be able to swing something with Beaman Toyota in Nashville, who knows. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for this. Yeah, I've been in contact with them....they contacted me immediately when I did the KBB "instant offer" process.....we went back and forth over prices/availability, and of course I can see what they have online. I'd jump at a deal like you got....and that was ORP.....prices are WAY up, as everyone knows by now, and I couldn't possibly get even the SR5 4 x 4, let alone a Premium-- for that price. For $38K right now (+ tax + $650 dealer fee), SR5 4 x 4, that's going to be a 2017-2020 w/50,000-60,000 mi.....or more. So at this point I think I'll just wait it out....not driving much anyway, keep the mileage low.
