Mileage

My 4th gen on secondary roads 40 - 55 would get 24 easy. Around town - always came back to 18. Highway 20 or so.

Add 1,000 pounds and I can squeeze out 23 on secondary roads on a 100 mile trip. 17 is my average around town and a bit of highway.

But, and here's the good part, I can tow an almost 5,000 pound boat and trailer and she wants to go 70 on the highway, those extra almost 30 hp really haul. Pull a trailer of firewood - no problem. Go anywhere, anytime, mud, snow, heavy rain, pack a vacation into the back, ladder on the roof! Can't do that in a Prius!

Totally stock 2019 TRD ORP. 14.5 in town all day long. Felt like it was better b4 the fuel pump recall.

2022 ORP with 10 ply 33s with 2.5" lift in front and 1" lift in rear. Amsoil 5w-30 Sig Series and Shell 93 fuel, consistently get 17.5-18.5 hand calculated.

Completely stock Limited I was getting 18mpg consistently at sea level with a 20/80 mix of city/highway driving.

With a full length roof rack with permanently mounted rifle case with recovery gear, recovery boards, awning, sliders, full aluminum skids, lift, and 285 C load Toyo AT3s it dropped to low 15 mpgs. Living at elevation it improved a little to about 16mpg.

255/75 KO2's yielded 18.5-18.7 for the past three months, mixed driving. New Michelin Defenders stock size, 21.4 on the first tank, same driving.

I do pretty good. Only counting the MPG while driving downhill, helps.

2020 TRD OR,Bone Stock, about 17.5 avg, for 36K miles. Can do 22 if back roads @ 60 MPH, drops to 20 mpg @ 70 MPH. Towing 5000 lbs on flat land, 10-11 mpg. Numbers were virtually the same for our 2012 for 165,000 miles.

I normally average 16-18. However, this past weekend, I filled up before hitting the Blue Ridge Parkway. Got on, drove to my destination, turned on to another road, drove past Clingman’s Dome all the way to Cades Cove, TN. Drove around Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and then headed home. When I got home, I still had a little over 1/2 tank left. I’ve done that trip hundreds of times and have NEVER even come close to that. I wish I knew what I did differently, because I would do that every single day.

2018 TRDORP

My MPG around San Diego is total crap... somewhere in the 14-15 range with E rated tires.

I'm recently back from a big road trip (with the E rated tires):
5,641 miles
18.6 overall MPG
$1,498 in gas

I did a similar trip in 2018, when the 4Runner was new and had original tires):
4,717 miles
20.4 overall MPG
$766 in gas

2014 limited - with geolanders 21's
avg around 18 to 20 mixed driving.
Added sprint booster and now getting 21 on the highway (drive between 65 & 80 mph)

I also have a 22 TRD PRO, but I have not checked the mileage on that. I bought it new / in march.

hope that helps
good news is they run on 87
