This is the way, all the windows down and the sunroof open. I don't do hours long trips that way but that's my move for trips around town and my ~7 mile commute and I've never noticed any fumes.

Driving with the rear window down on long trips puts the kids asleep which makes for a more enjoyable experience.

A simple, inexpensive test for airflow is just to tape some 1 foot ribbon strips to the top of the cargo door opening and drive under varying conditions , speeds and other window positions.
I've been happy driving with the all windows down.
