Coincidence or?

So I have noticed that if I don't drive my 4R for a few days, then take it out, for the first few kms the steering wheel shakes pretty bad between 40-80km/h. After a while it goes away on its own. But if I drive it daily, this does not happen and its smooth right away. Is it possible that the tires get deformed from sitting and it takes a while for them to reshape? That's my only explanation, but that should not happen to todays tire technology, so wondering if anyone else on here noticed the same?

It's normal, some AT/MT are worse than others when it comes to developing a flat spot for sitting too long.

normal? there are stretches where I will only take the vehicle out once per week, maybe put 2kms on it that's it. stretches where in a month, maybe only 20kms with once a week driving. then I will go on the road and put 200-300kms on it at once. It is not getting much driving action right now. I've never had an issue with flat spots even after taking it on the highway after these long stretches. I have michelin M+S and Xice tires, never had an issue

As a dealer who has had thousands upon thousands of vehicles in inventory parked for various stretches of time, it is a normal occurrence and not one to be concerned over.

Sounds good, thanks for all your input. I thought perhaps its the tires having such a fat sidewall (70 series). I have a car parked for winter storage for like 5 months and first drive in the spring I don't experience such shaking at all, but I guess being on 30 series tires helps and stored at a higher psi.

yeah bigger the tire the more likely it will happen. Also, if where you live has big temperature changes from day to night also makes it more apparent.

Hmm good point, we have had some temp swings, very hot during the day and very chilly at night. I will keep that in mind also, just wanted to make sure it's not something I needed to get checked out. I only want to visit the dealership when I absolutely need to, even under warranty.

maybe inflate it more when you don't use it, around 55psi. when i first bought my 4runner, i noticed the tire inflation is around 50s.
