Whether I like a product or not, I definitely appreciate manufacturers who take their time, money and resources to make aftermarket products for us 5th gen T4R owners to at least consider. Thanks for sharing OP!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product at this time.

I ordered it a while back. I actually had it custom made (reasonable upcharge) with larger openings because I was intending to use it for the dogs, not for mounting my bug out gear. I see that they now list that version as well, so I guess I'm happy to participate in paying for the R&D.

The issue is that it does not fit right. When it is aligned with the top of the rear window recess, the sides do not follow the same angle, so there is a significant gap between the panel and the side of the recess. Also, right at the top it is too wide so it does not actually fit in the recess.

I sent Orangeboxx photographs of these issues, and asked about 1) it not fitting in the recess and 2) my concern about running those self tapping screws in to the hatch and it appearing that they may interfere with the window, because they are very close to it even without the misfit.

It's been a week and so far crickets. I will try to call them today, but at this point I am out over $300 and have a panel that doesn't fit, and even if I take a belt sander to the corner so it fits in the recess, I am not going to risk ruining my window without confirmation that it will clear the screws.

Stand by, I will report back.

EDIT: Well I never heard back from OB after sending them a video detailing how the panel does not fit in the recess of the hatch. I showed where it is too wide, and where it is not tall enough. I went ahead and ground down the too-wide part, and screwed it in where I could. It seems secure enough, and hopefully will hold and not rattle. It looks like crap, and I'm not that happy all around.

After modding it, I got an email from MuttManagers, which I had previously contacted and they said they have developed a solution. Here is their info:

Makes me wonder if the test vehicle had body damage that was repaired or even unbeknownst to the fabricators.

Perhaps could have, but it would seem surprising that the window recess changed shape that much and the window still worked? In any event, we'll never know since they haven't replied after almost a month (I sent them my email with videos on May 21).

I'm not one to trash talk a company lightly, but based on my experience, stay away from Orange Boxx.

Back in the day, the owner of this company went on a tirade on this forum, it was quite memorable to say the least.

Oh man, I wish I'd seen that thread before I gave them a bunch of hard earned money for a useless product and zero response. Lesson learned.

Terrible experience with Orange Boxx Fabrication PSD rack
