Advice please! Oil Cap stuck on engine

need advice.
I cannot turn the oil cap on the engine by hand.
When I changed the oil last it screwed back on easily.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before getting out the channel locks and messing things up.

Use a rag and put channel locks on the cap, turn slowly. The rag stops plastic cap damage. My old truck use to this off and on.

When changing oil, clean the gasket surface of the cap and the pipe. Put a small amount of oil on the gasket.

Success!

Channel locks and a rag worked like a charm!
Had my FJ Cruiser for 15 years before i traded it on this 2022 4Runner and never ran into this problem before.
First oil change went like a snap. I followed Antman's advice and torqued everything to specs so hopefully I won't have a problem with the filter housing.

Glad to hear that you got it loose, warming up the engine should help as well, but the channel locks definitely work
