Center High Mount Stop/Brake Light Not Working

Hello,

I took some time to search the 5th gen section to see if anyone has had similar issues with this center brake light on the 2018 4runner. I did not find any relevant threads...My Local AutoZone is demanding almost $90 from me to buy a replacement and I don't think it's absolutely necessary to buy a new one. Is there any way to repair this light? I checked the fuse box and all the lamps are tied in to one fuse so I know it is not that. The wiring harness to the light looks good also. I'm guessing moisture got in there and fried it has anyone take it apart and seen if the bulbs are replaceable? Is there any aftermarket alternative to this? Thanks in advance for any info you may have.

They get moisture in them and easy to replace. I think some car washes can kill em dead!
Here is a thread on them.....High mount brake light

Here are some pics if you look at the soldering it looks like a fried pcb/electrical connection anyway to fix and re solder?

Unfortunately that thread is not relevant to a 2018 5th gen 4runner...the parts listed in the discussion are for up to year 2016...

Year shouldn't matter it should be exactly the same - at least from 2013 up.

Just buy a new OEM and or aftermarket one and call it a day.

2010-2022 are the same and I'd bet 23's will be too.
Here is the oem part (81570-47051)and look at the "vehicle fitment" part under the description and there's a drop down "v" that shows 24 more fitments.

I highly doubt you can resolder a shorted pcb board to get it to work again . If it was super expensive or rare maybe worth a shot. If being the key word !

edit: my bad didnt realize that there is no connector with the new light.

Cut and solder your old connector to the new light.

What brand/make did you buy?

What doesn't fit exactly?

Can you post pics of your fitment issue?

I wound up using a table grinder and got rid of the plug for the most part only keeping the necessary plastic housing and then sealed it all up with epoxy. So far no issues.
