Tint Sunroof???

I've done some research about tinting the sunroof and some have said that it may cause the glass to shatter because its trapping heat. Has anyone tinted their sunroof or heard of the glass breaking if you do? Thanks!

I’ve tinted the sunroof of every car I’ve had and never had any issues. I typically keep my sunshade closed too which should be trapping more heat against the glass.

I got my sunroof tinted after I got it new, and within a month. Also got top windshield about 6 inches tinted. So far no issue, and loving it. I am in Seattle area.

my sunroof is tinted. We've had a record 50 days of over 100 degree days this summer and nothing has happened to the glass.

Yes, tint the sunroof. I did mine with ceramic tint and it really helps reduce the incoming heat. Many 100+ day trips with no problem. I leave the shade open all the time to let in more light.

Did my other Toyota also no problem on a trip last week also with 100+ days.
The ceramic film keeps the heat out very well.

This. I didn't tint it. I had them put clear ceramic film since the stock color is already slightly tinted. The ceramic is crucial to heat rejection

Same here, central TX is going thru a shitty summer as far as high temps and zero rain.

I tinted mine to 20% last summer, and no issues. I usually keep the slider closed unless I'm using the sunroof.

I keep my shade closed all the time but may do it for more head rejection. I'd like to do all the windows at some point with ceramic.

We tinted every piece of glass on ours with ceramic including the sunroof. It eliminates almost all the heat and is definitely worth the extra cost over standard. Couldn't be happier. Just our 2 cents!

I wanted to have mine done and my tint shop refused to do it claiming the infamous exploding sunroof. Wish they would have done it.

I had ceramic limo tint put on my sunroof the week I got it. It’s seen 12 years of FL sun without issue. I’ve done similar on every vehicle I’ve had with a sunroof.
