Honestly it depends how bad it is and what is underneath. If it's a normal road then typically it's not necessary and I have driven in 18" of snow with no issue as long as there is solid ground underneath(road or hard dirt). If there is mud or gravel underneath then yes you will need to turn it off. But 4L automatically disables it, so if you're in it bad enough to need 4L it won't even be a thought.

Exactly.

MTS is a more sophisticated A-trac.

I experimented with everything back in 2018 and never found a reason to use A-trac ever since. It is a simpler version for the non-Trail/TRD models.

MTS does MUCH BETTER than A-track on tougher hills.

I only use the locker when I feel I really want it: usually for stability in tight spots rather than "really need it" but I always use one or another MTS setting (unless I forget LOL).
