Just curious if you have ever compared the light output/pattern to an equivalent size baja designs S8 light bar? ive been considering a bar for my SSO rack and this may be a good alternative at a fraction of the cost.

I've never compared them together, but im pretty sure you can't go wrong with BD ever.

Are you just planning to run a lightbar? Or are you planning to run a combination of lights (bumper/grill/ditch/roof/etc)

I currently have all BD lights. squadron sport fogs, 20" s8 in upper grill, s2 pro ditch lights, a pair of s2 sports on each side and under rear bumper and squadron pros on top of rear rack.

NOIICE!!!!!

Since you have all your lighting zones covered, i'd rock a straight up spot up high. Reason for this, is any hybrid lenses (i.e. driving) will have alot of hood glare, and flood will be even worse.

The roof mounted LED is probably the least used of all my lights, mainly just like you, i have my zones covered down low, and I rarely need a high mounted spot light. However, when you do need it, you need it (i.e. messing around in sand dunes or desert mobbing).

Now whether or not BD is worth it vs a less expensive alternative? I can't help you there. I am more budget conscious when it comes to lighting because i'm more realistic about my lighting needs and dont require a large budget (so i can go banana's on other mods lol). Like i've mentioned in other posts, I have no use for lights that my vehicle will never outrun. So with lights, I look for lights that have consistent build quality and performance at a lower price (so lasfit for me), but I don't expect them to compete with BD in performance.

Sometimes, you gotta buy what your heart wants though..... For me thats "total chaos and kings"... For others, its BD lights.

Cheers broski.

Thanks for the insight. I definitely apppreciate it, and as you mentioned I would not use it very often, but there are a few times I wish I had it. The lasfit lights do look pretty good so I will give it some thought for sure.

my limited experience with the lasfit optics has been fantastic. i bet the spot pattern would give minimal hood glare.

I like lasfit stuff alot, because the 32 inch light bar that i have in the bumper in the pictures above, i tied a ratchet strap to it, and smashed it with a 5lb hammer because i needed it to fit into a 30 inch hole on 2 separate occasions (SSO slimline bumper and current demello bumper) and it still works w/ no leaking (as the pics above shows)...

I think lasfit offered to replace the 32 inch light bar but i declined because it can't actually be removed from the demello bumper now without being cut out..lol,

Anyways, if u wait a few days, I'm going to go on a beach trip for the next 2 days. I'll try to get some shots of it in action where there is NO ambient lighting from the environment.

Light bar action and my dog!!!!

Review:

So amber lightbars have a very specific usage, they are used primarily for foul weather, dusty, rainy, or foggy conditions. They aren't used to project visible light as far as you can (i.e white light), but they are a great way to increase your lighting in situations where white light would ruin your night vision.

So, i have to confess that I totally forgot about this, so I went to test this light bar out on the CLEAREST night possible and in the darkest possible place with nothing for the light to reflect off of which isn't ideal for testing AMBER colored lights

However, these lightbars do project FREAKING far, but because the light is amber, it is a very soft light. Due to my poor test environment, I didn't even know it was on because I was expecting massive amount of hood glare, but there wasn't any. The only reason i knew it was on, was due to the reflection of the speed limit signs far away in the distance. My headlights overpower the intensity of the amber lights, but do not throw as far as the amber light bar. I was pretty impressed that my eyes barely registered it, but it still projected very far and reflected off of those speed limit signs with clarity.

Overall quality is top notch. Very well machined, and finished. I received black, stainless fasteners, whereas the previous model I owned were unpainted stainless fasteners. Uses similar technology as some of the well known brand names, and has similar performance for FAR LESS money, which means MORE money for MORE mods.

I'm pretty happy that I went with Lasfit a year ago when I was on the market for lights. Their lights do not disappoint.

On to the pics:

Beach camping with NO ambient light (no traffic, street light, or reflection).

pic 1: obligatory doggo pic w/ the 4runner and lasfit Led's.
Pic 2: just my headlights plus fog lights, note on-coming car to my right.

Pic 3: headlights and amber light bar mounted on the roof-- note reflection of speed signs to the left and how far they are spaced apart, and note lack of hood glare.

Pic 4: shits and giggles, All my lights. As you can see, my lights projects pretty good, and i didn't have to spend a fortune on them. Thanks Lasfit
