Few days left for subscription, continue?

So I have only a few days left to use the subscription Toyota app which controls remote start, destination assist and some other stuff. I believe it's $10 Cdn. per month, is it worth it? Would be nice to have the remote start during the winter months, but the rest I can do without, especially destination assist. It's nice to have, I did use it a few times up north and it worked very well, but it's not a must.
Anyone here continued their subscription? Any other thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Right up front, I have never used Toyota's app.

If you do a search for remote start, there are a lot of threads where members who are using aftermarket programs state that they are far superior to the OEM program...and you pay for it outright and own it rather than be subjected to a subscription charge that goes on forever.

The information you are looking for might be hiding in plain sight in one of those older discussions.

I don’t have it in my 4Runner, but I did have it in my IS350 and I did pay for the subscription. I used the remote start on the app almost daily and several times it’s saved my ass when I’ve forgotten to lock the doors. Most notably I was at the airport getting ready to fly cross country, by the time I was off the parking shuttle at the terminal, I got the alert the doors were unlocked. Opened the app, hit lock, done. Another time, I was also traveling and a friend needed to get something out of my trunk, opened the app, unlocked, done.

You don't need the app for remote start. I have a Canadian 2020 ORP and the remote start is still working 2 years after my subscription expired. Just press "Lock" twice on the keyfob and then the third time press and hold "Lock" for about 5 seconds (total lock press ..3 times)

Enjoy

I just signed up for the remote start on the ToyotaApp.
My previous car I had Drone Mobile and it was best thing ever to be able to lock, unlock, check location and start from where ever you are.
I used the drone mobile multiple times a day and it was also a subscription based product.
The Toyota App is not as well refined still getting used to it but at least it is integrated all together.
Will see how it works for a year and if I don't like possibly install the Drone mobile.
