Review of 42" Lasfit Amber Combo light bar

I participated in the testing invitation by LASFIT for their 42" Amber Combo lens light bar and am posting an unbiased and honest review.

Here is a link to the product: Lasfit 42" Off-Road LED Amber Light Bar With Slim Single Row Combo Flo

I will be comparing this to the color and brightness of my BD Amber wide cornering fogs and brightness and light pattern of my 20" BD S8 clear combo in the upper grill. The BD bar has a clear lens so I cannot compare color there.

The first set of pictures is the outer box, inner box and how the light bar is packed. I think Lasfit did a great job of packing and properly padding the light bar for shipping. Everything fit perfectly and was made specifically for shipping this light bar and its hardware components. It came with a harness that shipped separately as it is an optional part to order(though you will to either buy the harness or a deutch connector female end to wire up this light bar).

The next couple pictures show the light bar, included decals and 3 boxes of included mounting hardware. 2 bottoms bracket sets and 1 set of side mount brackets. The light bar looks to be built well and has a very nice fit and finish. I actually like the Lasfit amber lens color better than the BD amber lenses.

I will say that I do wish they had interchangeable color and beam pattern lenses like BD.

The next picture is the bar mounted in my SSO rack. It was an absolutely perfect fit in this rack and only required the side screws and washers to mount it to the SSO brackets. Next is the Deutch connector. Either you need to buy their optional harness(if you need the full switched wiring or want to cut the connector pigtail from it) or wire in a deutch connector like I did because I am powering this off a switchpro 9100.

Next pic is 5000k HID's, BD amber wide cornering squadron sport fogs, DRL's built into the S8 bar, and the Lasfit 42" amber bar on from a front view. Picture after is a view of the same lights against my garage door to show the color difference of the BD amber and Lasfit Amber.

The next pic is a closeup of only the BD 20" S8 clear Combo in front grill and 42" lasfit amber combo. This is a perfect pic for those wanting to see a comparison. My honest opinion is: The BD Combo lens is still very focused which may be undesirable in a "combo" lens. The lasfit combo optics are less focused and actually light a wider area better. pound for pound the S8 bar is brighter, but the Lasfit is also a fraction of the price. I do think the Lasfit is a great bargain of what you get for the price. It is a high quality piece, built well and looks great both turned on and off. I also love the darker Amber color which I actually find more suitable in inclimate weather. I had amber lenses on the S8 and it was not much better in dust or bad weather than just clear lenses on it.

The next few pictures are comparison pictures in a pitch black dirt area near where I live. I compare just headlights, then add fogs, then S8 bar and finally the lasfit.

The final picture is a closeup of all the lights on closeup against my garage door for a clear comparison.

My overall thoughts are: The lasfit is a great quality light bar from a company that clearly cares about build quality. The LED's are not the brightest, but are still very good. IMO it is an absolute bargain, and at current prices you can literally buy five 42" Lasfit bars for the price of 1 BD 40" bar. I would not hesitate to buy another lasfit light bar as I really like it a lot and am very happy with the quality. I cannot speak to long term durability yet as it has not gone offroad or through a winter with me yet but so far I am very impressed. The only thing I wish it had was the lens modularity that BD has with colors and beam patterns.

Can you measure the actual lumens on target as opposed to lux measurements?

Unfortunately I do not have a meter to test this. I will say the BD LED's are brighter and more focused, even when using a combo lens since the reflecotr bowl is unchanged. The lasfit actually uses the reflector bowls to do the dispersion so the light gets much more evenly dispersed but the intensity per led is not as strong as the BD.

If you want a wider more dispersed pattern lasfit is better. If you want focused intense light BD is better.

I also like the amber of the lasfit better, as it is more usable and does not have as much glare off the hood and also will not glare off snow/rain as badly. I have the amber lenses for the BD but it did not help much with glare.

I have a meter that can accurately measure lux, lumens and spectral curves. I also have a S8 amber 40 inch bar. Lol Im gonna need to measure the Baja then we can compare maybe.

I don't have any meter for it though. All i can provide is real world comparison based on actual use. If I had the meter I could have compared both since my grill bar is an S8(though 20")

Just wanted to post an update after going through this winter with the light bar. It still functions fine, but the inside has a lot of condensation on the lens. It does not appear to be very watertight. I still think it is a pretty good piece but might not hold up so well in climates where there is extreme cold and heat. It has seen both. 90's in the summer/fall when I put it on, and negatives this winter.

you should ask them to replace it...i have the white version for probably a year now, with no negative issues...but much less extreme weather her in Tennessee.

Stuff happens...how they respond to your faulty light will show you what kind of company they are.

For sure! I will reach out to them, but at least wanted to post an honest update on it's durability thus far. Not at all saying its a bad product, but did have this issue.

edit: I emailed them and will see what their response is.

No reply yet, but its only been overnight. I did find this video though, officially made by them. It seems they expect condensation inside all their lights so they had to make a way to get it out. Seems that you need to remove a plug and then leave the light on for 30 minutes to bake it out. This video is for the light bar but they also have one for ditch lights too.
