I was all set to black out the chrome when I first was considering getting a t4r, then I realized that's what everyone was doing. Now I'm completely fine with the chrome on mine. The alternate color is definitely a viable option to what everyone else is doing.

Nice work, 57HotrodVW! This is a great alternative to the typical black out treatment. I think the color you used would look good against the MGM handle surround on my T4R. I have the TRD Pro grill, as well.

I bedlined everything. Love the way it looks. But yeah if I could go back I would leave it all alone to include the dumb ass valances. Now I have to scrub everything with degreaser then rub it down with 303 every so often. Just another thing to take care of. Too busy trying to flex when honestly nobody really cares that much.

This is essentially what I plan to do with the overlay kit as well.
However, I never considered the little "risers" for painting off the ground to prevent sticking. Genius!

I played around a little with trying to come up with a method to elevate the overlays, while keeping them from moving, or sticking to an underlying surface.
The risers were a perfect solution, with zero cost, and only a little effort required.

I like the look. My 4Runner is super white, so I used white Plastidip on the front TOYOTA and rear 4RUNNER lettering since I wasn't quite ballsy enough to go with paint I couldn't peel off. Your risers are a great idea.

About to plastidip my 2010 limited emblems and badging with a black matte, anyone have success with painting them while leaving them on the car?
Also, scored 2 of these bad boys from a 1st gen 4Runner, trying to think of a location for them that would look cool, open to all suggestions! I may just delete the limited badging and put them there? Or above them? Thanks! -Kyle
