Engine swap - ABS/HVAC/Transfercase/etc. work?

Hi folks,
If one were to do a standalone engine/trans swap into a 5th gen 4R, what would be the error messages I would expect from what's left of the 4Runner body electronics? Obviously the dash wouldn't work as that grabs canbus data, and I assume the ABS wouldn't work (but what if it still got road speed per speed sensor somewhere - does it require anything else?), and what about 4WD selector for factory Toyota transfercase (I believe it would require transmission gear position info and speed as well, transmitted on canbus I believe?) Anything else I'm missing? Would airbags be a problem? How about HVAC?

I was digging through the PDF service manual that looked to be a downloaded compilation posted around here but didn't really see any wiring diagrams that would show what went where and how it connected to other parts of the system, or perhaps I'm not understanding their version of a wiring diagram. Is there a recommended printed 4Runner service manual, similar to the older GM and Dodge Helm manuals I've seen?

Edit: I mean these non-powertrain systems operating solo, as a standalone - would ABS function without seeing engine rpm? What about HVAC (aside from switching on compressor), etc.

Well for starters, it would depend on what engine / trans combo you would be installing. You could end up with all sorts of fitment issues, besides matching up sensors, etc. A different engine would come with it's own computer; but would it be compatible with your existing wiring, etc. It's a big job for sure.

Well yes, I should have clarified. I've done my own engine swaps before and since this system will be independent aside from some few CanBus profiles I can pass on for rpm/speed/etc. - I guess my question boiled down is where are the real Toyota wiring diagrams so I can see what data is passed into each system (ABS, HVAC, DAC/CC, Cruise, etc.)?
