lol no. Baja SAE are probably brighter than most but how they make them SAE is odd with there lens covering and cuts down on the max visual output.

I got the SAE Baja's for there quality and made in US. They were definitely a huge improvement over OEM and better coverage. Mostly got them because the headlights suck and they made a decent improvement filling in the dark spots the stock headlights fell short.

I also ended up splitting the LED's to half Amber and half white and also added a set of S1's for backing down the trails. Brightest things I have ever seen for such a small size.

To get back on topic.

I run the DD SS3 PRO Selective Yellow pods on the Cali Raised brackets.

Chose the brackets as they looked to be the lowest profile.

It gets pretty snowy/icy here in WA, especially in the passes and backroads from the mountains to where my ceramic coated OEM LED headlights aren't always clear.

The lights get hot to thaw the snow and ice buildup which is a big plus.

Also, being able to change lenses within a few minutes is pretty handy.
- Ie. Most of the year I run the Clear Driving lens as auxiliary high beams for back roads. Snow season I change them to the yellows (driving, flood, combo)

This is my video demonstrating the thaw within minutes.

I am hoping to put these up against some other competitors out there for an unbiased comparison video.

My goal is to be honest in all my videos, and having run Baja Designs exclusively on my Raptor, I can honestly report that these are very good lights.

The best ditch light kit for 2014-2022 4runner? - YouTube

Of course a link to the kit, so you can check them out for yourself:

For that price it's hard to beat.

After running them for 20 minutes do they get pretty toasty?

Probably due to a lot of light reflection back that causes eye fatigue and weird floating artifacts.

I think the sport is definitely a great value, especially because it includes the low pro brackets. It’s identical to the HP in construction, just less light output.

They do put off some heat, but the large fin design helps to dissipate it pretty good.

I want as much light as possible on the dark roads here in the Carolina’s, I don’t need an upgraded bumper that includes deer fur. But that’s a little different than twisty mountain roads with trees, rocks, etc, to throw that light back at me.

Having owned the Rigid SAE, BD SAE, DD Pro SAE, and DD Max SAE, the BD are probably the worst. Removed them mid trip and replaced with DD Pro SAE which proved to be much better in the snowstorms we went through.

BD SAEs are now up as ditch lights in my wife’s 4Runner since they are better flood lights than fog lights. Used Cali raised brackets

Will probably use Ronin brackets and DD SSC1s or BD S1s on my 4Runner for the lower profile look

I was thinking about the same setup, but mounting them under the side view mirrors. Has anyone did this? Pros and cons?

From Ronin’s website:
2010 - Current Toyota 4Runner Ditch Light Brackets (5th Generation) – Ronin Metalworks LLC

-Provides the full functionality of a true ditch light and eliminates the wind noise and hood glare, opposed to a traditional hood mounted bracket.

-Will still allow the mirror to be folded in, on tight trails and will still stay within the confines of the folded mirror.

There has been a huge marketing push for brighter lights for everything because of the false narrative that brighter is better and safer.
High country roads with blind curves or long sweeping curves blinding on coming traffic.
Two cars parked on the road with the car in the back shining ditch lights for the ding bat changing a tire in the vehicle upfront, without realizing that the blinding light is putting the life of his buddy in danger.

people need to understand how dangerous it is to be using offroad lights on a road where others could be traveling... I have ditch lights and I have amber covers over white s2 pros. they are so effing bright, even with the amber covers. I can't even look at them head on with sunglasses and they are pointed slightly down. pure white with no cover are unbearable to look at head on and can easily disorient someone... I ended up purchasing the black covers... I might swap to amber lens and throw them on to be 100% sure I can not accidentally turn those lights on when I don't want them on. they are exceptional when used properly and safely, which are very limited use cases on public roads

the WORST are folks who use their lightbars on highways
