Here's mine with a Westcott Designs lift. I don't think you can go wrong either way. If you enjoy the creature comforts, updated tech and have plans to keep it for 10+ years, I would go with a newer model.

I was on the same dilemma a few years back and decided to keep my 2012 Trail w/KDSS. Newer TRD PRO's as others have stated do have a little bit more tech and nicer upgraded interior but I love my TE as it has been the best vehicle i have ever owned. I have owned my TE for 10 years and still running strong. Really, the only thing i wish my TE had was a nicer steering wheel and upgraded lights which i am planning on swapping out soon. Prices are really steep for a TRD PRO and I cannot justify the extra money for almost the same vehicle. Do what you will be happy with and live with it for many years. Good luck on your decision!

Probably an unpopular opinion but I am not a fan of KDSS on or off-road. Overly stiff on pavement and limits your options to upgrade suspension. However I loved the look of the the old Trail, understated elegance in my opinion and I own a ‘19 Pro.

If it were me would keep the early TE. I prefer driving my 2012 over my 2017 Pro. I looked into swapping the 17 for a new 23 but the TE will die with me as the only owner.
