T10 12 inch headunit: impressions?
Anyone have the newer T10 12 inch screen equipped unit running in their T4R? Contemplating switching to it and wanted to know your impressions of it.
Also, does the "black" trim option from their website match the factory trim or is it just a straight black finish?

Saw this one months ago and it looks nice. Would like to see more reviews on it but not much out on it.

I follow TRDJON's YT page and saw he would be installing one. The problem with some reviews or products (generally) are that some of those people get that product sent to them for free and the company gets a public review (more than likely positive) in return to help sales.
Hence the reason for posting here asking about an honest review, MOST product reviews on YT I have a hard time trusting.

I recommend you join the facebook group "CTH 4Runner Android Head Unit Owners", its dedicated to the T9-T10 HU and lots of great info there. I reactivated my FB just to access the group before I got my V1 T10.

I requested to join and was denied, I do like the t10 units for the looks but performance is questionable. The latest v3 looks nice but price of it doesnt seem worth while

It'll not last based on components used. Hopefully there is support for updates and replacement parts many years down the road. Cars known to last decades and OEM headhunts designed with that in mind.

Try again, i was denied the first time too.
I held off for 3 years buying a HU and i really regret it now that I have the T10. The OEM HU in my 2015 was practically useless to me except for the bluetooth audio. I just wanted to have apple carplay (wireless is better than i thought it would be) and I haven't had any issues at all. I run the wireless carplay 100% of the time, 2 hour round trip to work 5 days a week.
The only issue i saw others posting about the v3 was poor rearview camera quality being stretched out that much but there was a firmware update that fixed it.

My son just put one in our 15 and it didn’t even take an hour. Can’t vouch for the longevity but I was more than impressed with how well it seems to work. There was almost no setup or configuration needed , it just came on and everything seemed to work. The steering wheel controls, the climate control, CarPlay, everything. I’d driven that car for 4 years with the stock unit and no CarPlay but if I had known that these would work and install this easily I would have done it earlier. Especially for the money.
I don’t think he’s had any issues with it in the few weeks he’s had it.

It does have its own navigation, not sure how good it is though. The unit does come with its own gps antenna you can mount somewhere. My son did not care about it so he just plugged it in but left it tucked in the dash behind the unit.

I managed to get the camera installed, it was PITA mounting and routing wires through the factory wire looms. I made a short video, you can hear the truck start and when I shift into reverse and see when the camera comes on, it is fairly quick IMHO....

Did it take as long as my unit in the video? It seems pretty quick to me, apple carplay takes 30 sec to a minute to connect and it takes over the screen while it is doing that can be annoying.

Mine does use the USB dongle for carplay and it takes ~30 sec to connect, but does not interfere with the backup camera. How fast do OEM units with carplay connect to the phone?

I just jumped in and tried this out. The backup cam came on almost immediately. It did not wait for CarPlay to load or anything else to boot up.
