Right. I have to see what my legal rights are. I mean, I had the option to walk away and not purchase the vehicle. It was damaged in transport and I agreed to accept the vehicle but under the assurance that their own dealership Toyota certified body shop would repair the same to "like new" condition. If they are unable to perform an adequate repair, would I be able to get a refund or apply that purchase price to a new vehicle? Any lawyers out there?

If you legally can, walk on the deal. Go elsewhere and get another one.

I'm going to call an attorney tomorrow to see what my options are. I already accepted the vehicle and put 1500 miles on it. I traded in my 2019 PRO and that has been sold. I accepted the vehicle because it's so hard to get a solar octane PRO, I got it at MSRP and got an amazing trade in on my 2019. I also got the assurance that they had a Toyota certified shop with a manager with 30 years of experience and that the vehicle would be perfect. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I'm guessing the law might say that I have to give them three chances to fix the damage. It's back at their shop now and they have agreed to let me take it to my body shop, where I know it will get painted properly. I guess my options now are to let them attempt to fix it again, take it to my shop or try to get them to give me my money back and they can repaint it, stick it on the lot and sell it to the next guy.

Update.....after the dealership's body shop screwed up the repair, I asked if I could take it to my own shop, a shop I've been using for 25 years. At first they said "No" but I then received a call and the general manager ok'd me taking it to my own shop. My shop did an excellent job, the dealership let me keep the loaner until the repair was done and they cut my shop a check. The 4Runner is brand new again. Perfect paint match.

Glad to hear you had a good ending, but it still sucks having to go through that. I had a similar, but not as bad, experience. I was working with the dealer who was able to get me a 2023 Off Road with only a few weeks of waiting for delivery - as long as I had been looking, I was thrilled! Day came to pick it up and I got a message from the salesman that I should call as soon as possible. He told me there were "minor imperfections" on the hood paint and said their body shop would paint it for FREE (oh, the generosity). I said no way, I am not paying MSRP for a brand new vehicle that has been repainted. I was upset, but also rather happy that they were honest about it. Sales manager was mad that I wouldn't buy it, so the only option was to order from scratch, which is what I did (4-6 month wait). But, one week later the salesman called and said Toyota was remaking my vehicle so it would be much faster than placing a new order. Within six weeks, I was driving my new Off Road!
