Thumbs up The Stealthiest Dash Mount / Command Center

We recently helped Lab Ops Gear shoot an install video for their Dash Mount (new injection molded plastic version). This install video also does a really great job showing how to take the center stack of the 4Runner dash apart.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFSfl-atlqU&feature=youtu.be

We have the original (3D Printed Plastic) version, and we love it. However, we will be upgrading to the new version due to a tighter fit in the dash.

Thumbs up

I'll say your install video is probably the best install video I've seen on any accessory. Nice having a detailed step by step of each part with the overlay to show what to do and what tools are necessary. Beats having to keep rewinding. haha

Thanks! That's what we were going for - thorough, detailed, and concise.

im between this one and the 67designs setup. both are minimalist, i hate the huge ones other companies make that look like youre adding armor to the clock area.

jk bought the lab ops one, and bought the 67designs arm and phone holder...both from texas too.

guess youre a true influencer now

And THAT is how videos should be done. Refreshing compared to most who for some reason must be doing selfies while explaining something. Very well done and great install.

My Gaia GPS didn’t show up in the CarPlay options – needed to download a newer version so big thanks for that!

This looks awesome! On their site it says 2015+, but is there any real difference in that trim piece for the 2010-2014? (I'm assuming not?)

Thanks! Yeah, I think you have to enable it in Gaia too... I'm not certain on that since it has been a long time since I set it up. You may also want to check to ensure that you are logged into your Gaia Account.

I'm thinking it should work on the 10-14, but I am hoping to try that out this weekend on a friend's 2012 4Runner. You may also reach out to John at Lab Ops Gear.

Wouldn't mount anything more than a phone on this, especially with the long arms.

Those little nutserts in plastic are not going to stand the torque of any real offroad driving with something large mounted on it.

I've seen one guy run an iPad Mini on there, but I think that is too much for me. On the original version of this mount, I have run my GMRS handset, VHF/UHF faceplate, iPhone 11 Pro, and a DJI Osmo Action (original) all at the same time on some rough trails without issue.

The 1/4-20 inserts are engineered into the mount to be extremely rigid. Once I get the new version installed, I am going to do some torture tests and video those.

Arrow 2010 - 2014 REQUIRE MODIFICATIONS (as of 11/28/2022)

So, what I am told is that it will "technically" work for the 2010-2014, but there are some slight differences that require modification. Apparently there are some parts of the Clock/Display that protrude into the area the USB outlets would be.

I spoke with Lab Ops Gear. They are looking into possible solutions to keep their customers from needing to do any irreversible modifications to their 4Runners.

i picked up a samsung a7 lite to run with a nano arm from 67design. will be doing high speed offraod stuff with it so i'll find out real quick if it works. if it rips the insert out, i'll put a new one in but add material like aluminum plate to spread out the load. or maybe run a long piece to each threaded insert

Other than downloading the new version nothing else needed to be done, it just showed up in the CarPlay list of apps.
