Coastal Offroad bumper question

I started putting together my Coastal Offroad rear bumper today and hit a snag. The instructions say the black piece under the hatch should be pried off, but mine is formed as a single piece with the rest of the bumper cover. Has anyone run into this issue before?

It looks like they've changed the pieces, because mine came with the three main pieces formed from a single bent piece instead of requiring welding:

Unfortunately with the distance the crossmember sticks out, and the bumper being 6" wide, there will be a large gap between the bumper and the vehicle. The bent bars that position the spare are also in the way:

I bent the bars down out of the way to position the bumper, and here's where it will be:

i have a aftermarket bumper (shrockworks) but its all the same.

I used a big ass rubber mallet and smashed those spare tire ears (or whatever they call em) downwards so its flush and it will clear my aftermarket bumper.

As for the black trim piece..I had to cut em to shape.

I would do that last, so you can leave enough material to cover the gap between hatch and bumper. Use weatherstripping there to hide your plastic cuts.

Although this is a different bumper than yours, this video may give some insight to your question. Good luck with your install. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HvKdthhKQY0&t=326s

That sorted it, thank you. Would have saved me a bit of panic had they included that step in the instructions, but you get what you get.

Now I've got to solve the problem where the welding bowed it a bit and now the front wings stick way out from the vehicle, but we'll get it done.
