Everything went together and works well.
There is nothing worse than chasing an intermittent electrical issue.
$65 for 4 sensors? I would be very surprised if they were Denso. Amazon sells them for about $37 each. The store can install any brand of sensor and write the IDs to the ECU and they will work. I wouldn't worry about it. They'll probably last for a long time.

I have the old sensors from my wheels and they are identical to the new ones I bought. If I get another 19 years out of them I'll be very happy...and amazed. I try to keep my T4R all Toyota and I install and maintain what I can. A trustworthy garage is my choice for the rest.

clarification

I paid around $65 each for those sensors. I had another dealer nearby who wanted closer to $100 each for them so I thought I did all right.
Maybe not.

Well much better at $65 EACH. Looks like you did get a deal; congratulations.

The stores I spoke with said they needed the Toyota Techstream software in order to activate them. I found that wasn't true, at least for my T4R. Your shop must have found a better way. I know I certainly did. If I didn't have to buy the scan tool I would have come out at $70-75 a tire.

One of my kids has a 2006 with TPMS problems so I'll be able to help him when he gets the Denso installed.

Light came back on today..was on the highway, started flashing, then went solid. Wound up taking it to the place that did the tires and will have them get it sorted out. $138 to do one. Hopefully it's just one..

Got back from the tire shop..Guy showed me the machine and all of the TPMS are good..On a hunch he decided to scan for codes and C2124 popped. I understand that could mean my TPMS module is bad. Seems like it should be easy to replace. I'm more concerned how it could have failed after only 4 years..Anyone ever had to replace one?

Now y’all got me nervous. I just bought 4 new Denso sensors and I’m getting tires installed next week. Maybe I’ll keep the old ones in for now. I do have TechStream and I took pics of all the IDs if I need to program them.

Anything can go bad, so no telling. I had the A/C compressor go out on my 2012 Corolla and that wasn't cheap to replace. Of course, outside of warranty but not very old. The compressor in my '91 Camry was still working when I donated the car to Good Will in 2020.

Code C2124 Toyota: No Signal from Transmitter ID 4 In Main Mode

Code C2124 Toyota Description

The tire pressure warning valve and transmitters that are installed in the tire and wheel assemblies measure the tire pressure of the tires. The measured values are transmitted to the tire pressure warning antenna and receiver on the body as radio waves and then sent to the tire pressure warning ECU. The ECU compares the measured tire pressure values with the tire pressure threshold. When the measured tire pressure value is less than this threshold, the warning light in the combination meter turns on. The tire pressure warning valve and transmitters constantly send radio waves to the tire pressure warning antenna and receiver. Under the conditions below, the tire pressure warning antenna and receiver are unable to receive the signals from the tire pressure warning valve and transmitters, and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored.

- Facilities or devices that use similar radio frequencies are located in the vicinity of the vehicle.
- Devices using similar radio frequencies are used in the vehicle.
- The ID of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is mistyped during registration.
- A tire/wheel/transmitter from a different vehicle is installed.

Just 4? Not replacing the spare? Maybe you're getting them for snow tires?

The older 5th gens can only read 4 tires.

Interesting, I have a 4th gen and it reads the spare too. I don't think it would read a second set, like snow tires, but I'm not sure. I don't have them anyway. You have a full size spare?

Haven’t had any issues with my 18 4Runner, but my 11 FJ WOULD throw a warning light when it was cold out, turns out spare was low and when sunlight heated it up pressure would rise above threshold for sensor

I had that happen a lot and it's a hassle to get the spare down to put air in it. A lot of people have had problems with the cable and mechanism seizing. Mine did but I was able to get it free. To get the old one off is a real pain too.

I had a very slow leak at the wheel and tire bead. I got a warning light about once a month.

Yes, full sized spare on a steelie with a rubber stem.
Here’s a Screenshot from TechStream. You would think it will take a fifth sensor but it does not.

Sticky?

I'm wondering if this thread should be a sticky. There certainly is a lot of useful information here but there also seems to be some confusion, at least on my part.
Had I known there was a way to make Denso sensors work then I wouldn't have spent the money on genuine Toyota parts. I'm also curious about the Denso's as replacements because sooner or later the batteries in my sensors will run down. Though from reading all this I still don't know if they would work with the system on my '22 Sport. As it was I had the OEM sensors installed on the wheels with my snow tires and once bolted on I reset the system to read the new sensors through the dash display with control buttons on the steering wheel as outlined in the owners manual. Having plug and play snow tires was the primary reason I went with OEM.
What year did fifth gen's change to the system I have?

That is awesome that you can get the system to read the TPMS and update the ECU. Denso is OEM. Toyota owns about 25% of Denso. My OEM TPMS are identical to the ones I bought on Amazon. Batteries wear down but I got many years out of mine on an early model 2004. Only one went out last year, 18 years old, 3 were low and 1 was still good.
