4Runner TRD Pro Stock

What trail rating would a 4Runner be capable of Stock onX Trail on the 1-10 scale. Doing some planning. Thanks. I have all ready added rock sliders. Watched a video of someone on a 8 in a Jeep on 37 and a 4Runner is not up to that.

Having owned two Jeeps, rented Jeeps several times, and now own a 4Runner SR5, I can say that a stock 4Runner can do anything a stock Wrangler can do.

In western Colorado, where I do my off roading every year (Alpine Loop and surroundings), the trails are rated 1 to 5. I have been on every 4 rated trail and some 5 rated trails in my 4Runner. The really difficult 5 rated trails require modifications (lift kits, skid plates, and perhaps lockers, etc). The only two 5+ rated trails I have not been on are Back Bear, and Poughkeepsie Gulch because I don't have the mods to do them.

You’re probably talking about high 4 provided the driver has decent experience.

There's no real way to give an answer because it also depends on driver skill. The Runner is pretty capable out of the box but the Wrangler can do a bit more because of the SFA. However that's in the crawling department. The Runner is probably better at the high speed stuff because of the IFS.

The problem with SFA (solid front axle) is the ground clearance. No amount of lift will increase that. The only way to get more ground clearance on the Jeep is to put much bigger wheels on it.

Same with the Runner but the Jeep is easier to go larger.

Right. 37’s on a Wrangler is nothing. 37’s on a 4Runner require an act of congress.
