Locking Rear Differential ?

I don’t know if it’s the cold but I put it in 4L in neutral then push button for rear differential lock and it just flashes and flashes never stops.
Any tips to get it to lock in ?
Temp outside-1F
I did not need it locked just wanted to try it out in the snow.

How old is the 4Runner? I know when i use mine i'm usually rolling along in 4L when I press the button for the locker. It then sometimes takes a few seconds to sync up and engage. It usually won't engage while your sitting still.

If I've read correctly, E-lockers need a bit of tire rotation to engage. +/- ½ turn of the rear wheel(s).

To get it to engage, it needs to not be under load (not holding on a hill) while differentiating the wheels. When I need it (always on a hill), I hit the locker button, put trans in neutral and roll backwards while turning the steering wheel left or right to allow the collar to slide over. This is where I prefer the air locker, just hit the switch and it's on.

Turn the steering wheel side to side while rolling forward to get the splines to line up.
