Best Low Budget Console Safe for the 5th Gen
Since we live in Texas now I carry all of the time. I have had a concealed carry for many years in other states.
I was looking into a console safe instead of using separate lock box when I go to places that you cannot carry.
What is the best and most economical console safe for the 4Runner?
I have investigated the Toyota one but at $330 its too expensive at the places I can find that have them for sale.
There are some on Amazon but they look like they are made in China and that I would like to avoid.
Any input would be appreciated.

Console Vault
Super happy with my Console Vault. They are still running a 20% OFF sale and free S/H. Very well made here in the US and easy install. I got the "upgraded" Elite lock too.

I did more research and Ive found the OEM Toyota console safe for around $270 locally.
Do any of the aftermarket console safes have features that make them better the the OEM model?

for a basic safe the OEM toyota one will likely be fine if you can get it at a good price. having to use the key to open it would be a real pain but I believe it has a tumbler as well.
some of the higher end ones have electronic key pads but really for me the 4 key tumbler from locker down is plenty and very stout. and pretty heavy. it aint going anywhere.

I have the OEM toyota safe. There’s no key, it’s a 3 digit combination lock.
The OEM safe is made in the US by a company in Tennessee. It’s well built and has some features that make it resistant to prying attacks.
