RCI Rear Lower Link skids install/issues?

I have been armoring up my 4runner and bought the RCI rear lower link skids as they seem like the best option. Was wondering if anyone is having issues with rust etc since you need to drill the frame? or is there any way to prevent rust there?

Trying to plan ahead before drilling into the frame. Maybe Silicone in the holes before putting bolts in, or spraying more cavity wax inside that area of the frame after install etc. I will probably also try to find stainless bolts since those appear to be normal zinc coated steel in the pictures

I have them bolted on as well and have thoroughly thrashed them. The front self tapping frame bolts will hopefully seal the bare metal that you expose during the drilling process. I'm not too worried since my frame is constantly being scratched to hell from all the rocks and surface rust is the flavor of the day all over.

If you are worried about rust, after drilling, paint them with zinc rich primer, sometimes called cold galvanizing paint. I have used it for many years to keep rust at bay. You can buy it at any hardware store.

maybe welding them on is not such a bad idea. It can easily be painted and I would be less worried about surface rust vs internal rust causing issues.

FYI zinc rich primer and cold galvanizing are very different things. Galvanizing spray is essentially a solvent-borne liquid form of zinc, and zinc primer is an epoxy with tons of dry zinc mixed into it.
