Trying to research swaybars -- can you help me decode model numbers?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out whether the SR5 runs a different swaybar than the Limited. I'm on OEM Toyota 4Runner Parts | Toyota of Lake City which is a pretty cool site w/nice schematics.

The thing I'm unclear on is what these mean?
TRN285
GRN285
TRN280
GRN280

I think one is 2wd vs 4wd. The other models are spelled out (e.g. Limited, KDSS, etc). Anyone know what the codes above mean in terms of 4r models?

Thanks!

GRN is the model code on the door jam, under the barcode. Assume TRN the same.

Also plugging in the Vin on the parts page should give you the correct part.

Ah, thanks for the clues here, guys. My door jamb shows GRN285L. What I'm trying to figure out is whether the rumors of the Sr5 and non KDSS swaybar being larger than the one on the XREAS/Limited are true. And I don't have an SR5 VIN to play with.

Can someone with a non KDSS SR5 or ORP check their door jamb and share whether it says GRN285 or GRN280 or?

Thanks.

There are two non-kdss front swaybars. Here is the vague description.

And here are the model numbers that the two fit.

So it appears that the part number on my Limited is 4881135460 based on: It's GRN285 AND Limited. The odd thing to me is that the PN 450 is -- in theory -- the "bigger" one off of the SR5 and yet it is cheaper? If so, this is the first time I've ever seen a larger swaybar be cheaper. I'm still curious to hear from folks what their doorjamb codes are (e.g. GRN or TRN and 280 or 285). Thx.

Finally, the KDSS one is BIG $$ -- nearly double. And holy hell the KDSS swaybar "damper" is expensive. But, that's off topic.

Why am I asking all this? IF I end up disabling XREAS, I don't want to be on floppy little swaybars so I'll want to upgrade to the SR5 setup if it is indeed thicker. FWIW the rear sway is the same for all non-KDSS.

My 2016 sr5 is non kdss and the model code is GRN 285L. Don't know if the sr5 non kdss is larger.

Finding a rear or side impact would be preferable of course.

OK, last post for now. I finally found a site that would filter well for model. Did a side by side of Limited & SR5 and the "net" is that the following parts are different on an SR5 4wd vs a Limited 4wd:

For Sr5 retrofit
Front swaybar: 4881135450 (about $180). Note: Limited PN is 4881135460
Front swaybar bushings (need 2) 4881535140 ($30/ea). Note: Limited PN is 4881535130
The Brackets (to attach the bushing to the frame) and the links (to attach the swaybar to the control arm) are the same for either of these swaybars. Makes sense as the only difference is a marginally larger bar.

Compared at site: Front suspension. Stabilizer bar & components.. 2022 Toyota 4Runner 4.0L V6 A/T 4WD Limited Sport Utility | Toyota Online Parts Depot, Cochrane AB

Pricing at site: FRONT SPRING & SHOCK ABSORBER. 2022 Toyota 4Runner LIMITED | Toyota of Lake City, Seattle WA

YMMV. Hope this is helpful.

I replaced my original stabilizer bar with the Limited one, 4881135460. Added Prothane bushings 19-1147 and Energy Suspension ones 9.5124G. There is a major improvement in the way my 4R handles on the road. Since I don't rock crawl, I don't see any downside to this mod. If you need to replace your front swaybar, buying the Limited one is a no brainer.

this comment surprised me

You're saying you installed the Limited one on purpose? What model do you have?

Did you install it because it was larger or smaller? I thought it was the smallest...

The swaybar for the Limited is thicker/heavier/beefier than the one that came on my 19 OffRoad. 2 mm thicker, IIRC. Does a great job of stabilizing the truck in corners, which saves on brake wear lol. Yes, I did it on purpose. The second SUV I did it on (replaced the one on my CRV with the Acura one -same improvement). Is it a bandaid for not replacing the shocks/struts, but I'll get to that sometime...

Wow, this is great info and it makes sense due to the fact that Toyota charges just a bit more for the Limited swaybar. Implies it's a bit thicker.

FWIW this goes against the common knowledge in this forum. There are a lot of folks who have previously said that the SR5 is the thickest non-KDSS sway and that it would be a potential upgrade for Limited owners.

Thank you!

Fwiw I can’t think of a single time I’ve read of an xreas delete where the person replaced the sway bar too, myself included.

If you’re adding an aftermarket suspension lift, that will improve the ride more than anything else.
