2017 headlights peeling
Noticed today that my ‘17 TRDP OEM D/S headlight coating is peeling fairly bad. The truck only has 43k miles on it and isn’t offroaded or abused in any manner.
Does anyone find this odd, has anyone seen this before, and does anyone think this would be covered/replaced by the dealer?
I have never had this happen on any car I’ve owned (14-15 since I could drive)

It happens. Do you park outside in a sunny climate? Do you wash and wax often?

Wash and wax more than most but I’m not a detailing nut job. Gets waxed maybe 2-3 times a year and washed maybe once 1-2 weeks aside from winter months.

2017 headlights peeling
2017 TRD Pro over here, park outside all day everyday in CA since brand new. I don’t wash my truck very much (months at a time) and my lights look factory new.
But when I do wash it, I make sure it’s CLEAN, door jambs, under hood, wheel wells. Nothing more than a self spray car wash.
Not sure if paint color affects the headlights but I’m super white.

no issues on mine when I replaced them a year or so ago with the oem led lights. Usually parked in the garage, I would probably wash once every 3 months , and finally this past year I used a clay bar on it to clean it up. Could be sund /temps and chemicals you used. Would recommend the 21 plus factory led headlights

I’m pretty OCD about keeping it clean/washing when possible if it’s dirty it does primarily stay outside but again, with it only being 5 years old and 43k miles I wouldn’t think this would come up so early in life. I’m going to ask the dealer to see what they say on Monday but my hopes are not high at all.

You’re well outside of the factory warranty period and extended warranties don’t cover headlights.

My 2016 headlights are peeling. It is on the top flat part that gets the most sun. No garage parking for last 2 years or so.

3 yr, 36k is what would cover headlights, and they wouldn't cover it with aftermarket HIDs, anyway. Wouldn't waste time with dealer.

Yeah it’s on the flat part on the top (gets the most sun like a PO said)
I’m just going to bite the bullet and get alpharex headlights with an HID setup and get their LED tails (might as well, right?)
Thanks to all who responded, I’ve just never seen that happen on a car that is so young in life/miles.

I feel your pain on your OEM headlights peeling so quickly. That said, I would offer a strong caution on aftermarket headlights in general and Alpharex lights specifically. Do some research and you will pretty quickly find that aftermarket headlights don't hold up or perform nearly as well as OEM - in many different ways.
I too would highly recommend 2021+ OEM LED and you can find them relatively cheap from folks who buy headlights "for the way they look" as opposed to the way they perform.

you can get some cleaners that rejuvenate the plastic. Some use micro abbrasives some use solvents or a combo of the same. Shop around to see whats good where you live. Lots of vids online on how to restore them.
