Fix Your Squeeky Wiper Blades

With winter season upon with all the heavy rain and snow, Im sure many of us have run into sqeeky wipers. On top of that new wiper blades now days are ridiculously expensive. So here are a few things I found that I found that may fix those annoying sleeks and perhaps save you some money before you have to go out and buy new one.

Clean Your Wiper Blades.
Clean your wiper blades frequently (At least once a month). Dirt build up can cause the wiper blades to wear down more quickly. The most common tips I heard is to clean them with soap & water, vinegar & water and rubbing alcohol.

Recondition Your Blades
Blades start to dry out but can be restored by using product such as Areo 303 which are specifically designed to extend the life of rubber, plastic and vinyl and so on. 303 Products - Home Ive been using this myself and so far so good.
Ive also heard people use WD-40 but excessive use can eat away at the rubber. A good alternative may be TRI-FLOW. Iveve used this for many years on rubber O-Rings and gaskets with no problem.

Clean Your Windshield
Same as the wiper blades, soap & water, vinegar & water, window cleaner (recommend your favorite) and some have suggest mild abrasives such as Soft Scrub or just using a mild scrubbing pad.

Wiper Blades Arms out of Alignment
Your wiper arms could be slightly bent and cause your blade to sit at an angle instead of perpendicular to the windshield. This can cause you wipers to squeak and skip. Bend your wiper blade arms to make sure your blades are perpendicular to the glass. Here is a good video on this.

If anyone else have any good ideas and tips put them here.

When Costco has blades on sale I buy them. Typically early October. Cheap enough I buy a set for every vehicle.

You must have good luck with these as the couple sets I bought have been trash.

Buying them for a few years now for multiple vehicles. Live near Seattle. Lots of rain, less ice, less sun than other parts of the country.

Yes I have used the Sightline blades. They are very good. The only draw back is that they are disposable like many wipers now days, can’t replace the blades and they are over priced if you asked me. Although I heard NAPA sells blades that will fit the Sightline.

For me I ended up replacing them with OEM factory wipers because you can just replace the blades. I bought these online for about $27 bucks which was a barging. Then I ordered 5 pairs of blades for about $8 buck each. In the long run I will save more money than replacing Sightline blades every year.

Here is tip when ordering online. If you plan to spend $75 or more look at dealers all over the place. Dealers in the south in general tend to have lower prices. So, if your in California check out dealers in Alabama, Louisiana and so on. I’ll bet you will find very good prices and if you order $75+, shipping is free.

Good Luck

Maybe they only have them in the US? Keep in mind that these are not made buy Toyota but are authorized by Toyota as a official Toyota parts dealer. However, the do claim that the rubber blades are made by Toyota.

I have a set of Sightline if you want them but the blades need to be replaced, Ill give them to you for free if you cover shipping. I can replace the blades but the only ones I found are NAPA blades. The blades here are $10 but I have to buy them in pairs for each side so I would have to spend $40 which is so stupid. So I’m not sure if you still want them. Also the OEM factory blades will not not fit on the Sightline, I tried, which is stupid.

Honestly I think the best option is to get the OEM factory blades the buy a lot of blade replacement. I think you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run. The Toyota blades are really good quality.
