With winter season upon with all the heavy rain and snow, Im sure many of us have run into sqeeky wipers. On top of that new wiper blades now days are ridiculously expensive. So here are a few things I found that I found that may fix those annoying sleeks and perhaps save you some money before you have to go out and buy new one.
Clean Your Wiper Blades.
Clean your wiper blades frequently (At least once a month). Dirt build up can cause the wiper blades to wear down more quickly. The most common tips I heard is to clean them with soap & water, vinegar & water and rubbing alcohol.
Recondition Your Blades
Blades start to dry out but can be restored by using product such as Areo 303 which are specifically designed to extend the life of rubber, plastic and vinyl and so on.
303 Products - Home Ive been using this myself and so far so good.
Ive also heard people use WD-40 but excessive use can eat away at the rubber. A good alternative may be TRI-FLOW. Iveve used this for many years on rubber O-Rings and gaskets with no problem.
Clean Your Windshield
Same as the wiper blades, soap & water, vinegar & water, window cleaner (recommend your favorite) and some have suggest mild abrasives such as Soft Scrub or just using a mild scrubbing pad.
Wiper Blades Arms out of Alignment
Your wiper arms could be slightly bent and cause your blade to sit at an angle instead of perpendicular to the windshield. This can cause you wipers to squeak and skip. Bend your wiper blade arms to make sure your blades are perpendicular to the glass. Here is a good video on this.
