285 vs. 295

What’s up guys?

So I’m about to buy some tires and I got my lift pretty much set up, just gotta put it together, but I’ve been thinking about changing the tire size. I was originally going with 285/70/17 but I’m thinking of going to a 295/70/17.

I’m thinking of going with some wheels with a -38 offset, gonna get the bmc done for that as well, anyways...

Has anyone had issues with running 295? I know some people suggest re gearing, but ice also seen some guys just run it with the same gears.

My lift set up will be as follows,

Kings
Dobinson upper control arms
Bmc
17” wheels with a -38 offset or
Trd pro wheels with a 1.25 spacers

Any heads up or more info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

i rather go taller than fatter.

Have you considered a skinny 34, such as 285/75r17?

That is the size i currently run and am loving this size.

Here is mine w/ -38 offset wheels.

Taller is definitely better than wider. If you go with a 0 offset, I have seen some folks fit a 295 with just some minor trimming. With a -38 (or -28 with Pro Wheels +1.25" spacer), you'll need a BMC and significant trimming.

I would think it would be a real dog with stock gears and 295s.
