STP Extended Life Filter
Hi All
Has anyone ever used the STP Extended Life Filter? AutoZone had a good deal on oil and filter. It looks like a good quality filter. I was able to compare it to Mobile1 and the two looked identical although the STP filter paper was a little more yellow in color compared to Mobile one. I was also able to compare it to a Toyota filter as well. It looked almost the same. The one thing I noticed is the plastic ring on top of the Toyota filter is thinner than the Mobile 1 and STP. If you have used one let me know what you think.
Thanks

You wont notice a difference with any filter you use.
I use OE toyota because they are cheap in bulk. And i do 2 oil changes a year at most.

OEM filters stock up during sales, I bought 6 at $3.50 each. I started doing my own oil changes after the 5 year dealer service. I change it every 7-7500 miles and oil looks good still.

Haha! Yeah I’m aware of this. I change my oil about every 5-6,000, so in reality I don’t need the “Extended” filter. AutoZone has a oil and filter package deal. Buy 5qts of oil and get the STP Extended Life filter for an extra $2 (normally $10. It’s $36.99 for 5qt of Mobile1 Advance Sythetic oil, $38.99 with the filter. I was just curious if anyone has used this STP filter. As I said earlier, the filter looks identical to the Mobile 1 in every way, just a slight color difference in the filter. It looks to be well made. I think it’s made in Korea

I hope your putting more than 5 quarts in every time....I know mine takes just over 6 quarts. Most specs indicate 6.6 qts.
make sure you are not changing the oil at high tide...that can throw off your readings.

I did. I put in 6qt of Mobile1 Advance Synthetics 0-20W and topped it off with about 20 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil.

It will be fine. I wouldn't go the extended intervals though.

It act as a engine detergent to keep you engine clean like Chevron uses Techron but compared to Techron you get more bang for you buck with MMO. You can put it in your gas or oil. It says you can replace up to 20% of your engine oil (1.3 qts for the 4Runner) with MMO. I usually put in 6 qts of oil and top it off with MMO (little over half a qt).
Here’s a good comparison of MMO, Techron and Sea Foam video.
