base trail model rearview mirror

I bought my 4runner base trail edition in 2016 with 4k miles on it. The previous owner installed a remote starter (module shown in pics). Fast forward to today and I'm trying to install a dash cam by using power from my rearview mirror. The problem is there are no wires/power to my mirror. Did the 2016 base trail rearview mirror not have power?

edit- the pics didnt load. I'm Curious if the power for the mirror wasn't used for the remote starter.

Ok, today i took the over head console down and there isn't power running to the mirror or remote starter. remote starter runs along the top of the headliner and down A-Pillar. Now i need to figure out if I can just use that to power dash cam.

Can i tap into this for power?

Just a moment...

Definitely recommend using a fuse-tap and running it down to the fuse box by the pedals. Then just pick your fuses to tap based on if you need constant power or only accessory.

Side note though: I'd stay away from tapping into anything critical to the car's operation. As in, it's better that your radio or wipers don't work rather than your fuel pump relay in the event that the fuse-tap malfunctions somehow. IIRC from installing my dash cam, I believe there are actually a few powered open slots that I would check first before tapping into a preoccupied slot.

Ed, thanks for the reply and recommendation. I think I'm going to use this;

There are some other considerations here. Before any power source is tapped into, it's a good idea to check what current rating that source is and if it can handle the extra load of the accessory you want to add.
