Hi Phil,
Before doing an
ECU RESET, check a few things. Be sure that the Thieves didn't damage any of the door-locks e.g., Tail-gate, Hood-lock...etc! Because if there's still an
ACTIVE FAULT in ANY of the systems, a RESET won't Stop the security system light from blinking [permanently]; it'll come back on once the system see's a breach in that system!
So find out what-cha can about any damage that may have been done to the truck during the theft... and if you don't find anything
Obvious, then Reset the ECUs/PCM by disconnecting the battery (Both Terminals), and use a jumper wire to join the
POS and
NEG battery cables together for about 10 minutes. Remove the jumper wire and Reconnect the battery terminals to the battery!
Start the engine... it'll run for 2 seconds, and
SHUT-DOWN! This is Normal. Re-start the engine and now the COMPU's have been RESET! See if the security system light went out(?)... If it did, you resolved the issue. If NOT, take the truck to
Auto-Zone and let them scan it for
DTC's (
Diagnostic
Trouble
Codes)! That'll tell you why the security system light is on!
Let us know, ~rig~ Regards!
