I don’t think anyone is really interested in a hybrid or electric vehicle. Many things Toyota COULD do to improve 4R if that wanted to and turbo and electric is NOT one of them IMO. It needs better clearances, approach, departure angle and break over as well. Oh and better clearances for larger tires and stronger spindles as well. Removable top and doors would also make it more competitive as well for sales. I would love a solid front axle but we all know Toyota only gives the good stuff to 3rd world countries . Not seeing how electric or gimmicks will help it off road and that is what most of us here care about anyways. Keeping my ‘19 Pro.

Probably because this is speculation.
They preface every statement with “we believe”. None of their speculations differ from what we have all already discussed here.

Most who drive these do not take them off road or use their full capabilities, however they still use them in areas with a snow or the beach. They don't need better angles, nor larger tires, etc. Toyota would lose more sales than they would gain with those changes. This is my DD, I especially do not want removeable top and doors, nor do the overwhelming majority of people I see driving them. Again, sure it might make those looking at the Bronco or a Jeep reconsider, but they would lose the sales of myself and pretty much every other DD of these. We are a forum of enthusiasts, and unfortunately, what people want on here does not translate to increased sales in the 'real world. They need to keep it a mix of off-road capable yet refined for daily use as well. If they get a nice balance they will appeal to the most buyers possible.

Sooooo make it a Wrangler? Are ATRAC, CRAWL and MTS not "gimmicks" to make your Pro better offroad?
I, for one, would love a 4XE style gas/electric or even a hybrid 4Runner. I drive mostly around town. Burning no gas for 25 miles seems pretty amazing. And 4XEs are impressive offroad.

I hope my view will be shared 'cause Toyota could attract a wider audience by adding off-road enhancements. Have you thought that the option for a removable top and doors can also appeal to enthusiasts? Why not. I mean these additions might not appeal to everyone, but they could capture the attention of individuals who are considering options like the Bronco or Jeep. Moreover, I recommend electric cars and gather information like this because the right research shows that they are better than petrol diesel cars. As a student of engineering, I say you to check verified sources and expert writers who will offer samples proving what I'm saying.

Yeah 1% of the buyers want the stuff this guy was talking about. Hell on our Off-road order we specifically did not want KDSS or the stupid moon-roof. Anhueser Busch just fired their Bud Light marketing exec for targeting the 1% at the expense of losing the 99%.

I don't think they'll make the 4Runner a Bronco. And IMO they shouldn't unless they replace it with a similar successor called a land cruiser or whatever they want to call it.. It's not what I would have used to replace a 4Runner. But why not have both?
Wrangler/Bronco segment is pretty popular. I wouldn't really want to daily drive one. But I'd love to have a Toyota version as a weekend toy. My FJ40 is not really streetable and I have a lot less time to go play or wrench on it than I did a few years ago. I've been thinking about a Bronco, but ended up buying a UTV for now.
As oddball as it sounds - I think Toyota would kill with an even smaller new model like an OG rav4 size convertible unibody, but build on the GA-L setup (rear wheel drive using something like the Lexus IS structure) but with a low range or a very low 1st gear transmission. And then basically use UTV suspension design. Body like a Jimny. And make it cheap. Like $25k bare bones rubber floor and soft top up to $40k with a hardtop and AC. Instead of going after the $80k overland fad, go straight at the $40k UTVs and RV towable market. Make it have 4 locking hubs so flat tow is a breeze. A Polaris Ranger Northstar w/cab is 2800lbs - it weights more than the 1st gen rav4. IMO there's 100k sales/yr they could pull from that side. I'd buy it over a full cab UTV in a heartbeat. Call it a FunCruiser like they originally called the Rav4 in some markets.

Any guesses as to the last minute, individual, incremental features that may be added to the 2024 4Runner to fill the last of the button blanks? Lol

It sells itself even without updates. IIRC, the 2023 for the most part only added heated steering wheel on some trims, and rear cross-traffic alert, along with the 40th anniversary edition.
I would expect the 2024 model year 4Runner to offer an all-new wheels-and-stickers package at a bad value, similar to the 40th AE.
