Rosen Sun Visor Review
background: they make visors for jets, military vehicles, and for ICON/TLC. Pretty popular upgrade on the land cruiser forums and forums frequented by those that have way too much money.
Material: CNC aluminum and optically clear plexiglass.
Price: 185/pair for replacement
195/pair for clip ons.
Order: manufacture direct.
options:
1. 15 or 18 inch plexiglass (i ordered the 15 inch)
2. permanent/universal vs clip on (I ordered the permanent universal mount)
Why did i want it: If you are not vertically challenged like me, you will find that the OEM sun visor is pretty much useless around town, especially around intersections and spotting traffic lights because the visor blocks your entire view or it doesn't. This visor pretty much fixes that issue. The best use of this is right before dusk and dawn, where its too dark for sunglasses, but that big burning fireball is right in your line of sight, or you have dark tinted driver and passenger side windows, and sunglasses are too dark for some occasions, or driving in town, where seeing is actually important regardless of the position of the sun.
Pros:
1. infinitely adjustable, using allen screws, thumb screws and ball joints.
2. perfect CNC and plexiglass cut.
3. perfectly optically clear and blocks glare pretty much 100 percent. You can stare into car headlights if you wanted to.
4. it is universal if the vehicle uses 2 screws to install.
5. packaging is perfect, customer service and response was perfect.
6. you can pretend you are in a leer jet.
Cons:
1. the universal mount leaves a side gap, which is okay with me, but some people might not like it.
2. it uses allen screws, i can see how this can be annoying or it can loosen over time, but i keep the allen keys in my glovebox just in case.
3. its expensive, but I personally don't think it is, due to the craftsmanship.
4. it doesn't block the sun out 100 percent (obviously), but that is not the intended function. So people who use it to nap in the car, might not find it that useful. I have a 5 inch tint strip on my windshield, and I wear sunglasses occasionally, so I find this upgrade pretty useful.
5. you lose your vanity mirror and light, so I guess you guys must find another way to put on your makeup ...er...beard conditioner when you meet the boys at your overland meets.
6. You are still not in a leer jet.
Conclusion: its worth it to me with specific needs, and those that want a custom look to the vehicle. It's a toss up between clip on vs permanent mount.
On to my tiktok, instafake pics..

Great review! I can see these being very useful so you don’t have to constantly keep adjusting the OEM visors to just barely block out the sun but not block your LOS. I only wish it was a bit cleaner of an install for the price. Can you reuse OEM parts to cover the holes where it mounts? Does the 18” fit better in the visor area than the 15” one?

unfortunately, you cannot reuse the OEM hardware to cover up the hole. I sent a email to Rosen to let em know about it, but honestly, i don't see a big enough market for them to redo their CNC machines just for us. You cannot see the hole in the closed position, its only visible in the deployed position.
the 18 inch will be too long, but if u are handy with a knife, you can cut the 18 inch one to exactly what you want. Our oem measures out to 17 inches just to give you an idea.
Although, keep in mind, this has infinite adjustability, so the 15 inch is fine. You can move this down to block your face if you wanted too....lol.

fastest update ever:
The company reached out to me and said they will try to come out with a 4runner specific mount, and will send me out a test sample mount, because they wanted the product to be a perfect even if its a "universal" mount.
Keep in mind, I am not sponsored by them.
i initially reached out to them 48 hours ago to give them payment, and I had my product in my hands via fedex on a sunday afternoon.
In the initial purchase email, they asked me how the product fit, and asked me if i wanted to return it if it didnt fit. I told them it installed fine, but had a side gap. They then offered to make it perfect, and send out a test mount. All of this occurred since i initially posted the review.
New mount will be available for testing in a few weeks.
i am impressed.
No wonder the land cruiser guys love this company.

I emailed them asking about just one clip on for drivers side and within an hour had a response and price, $147.50 + about $14-18 FedEx shipping. Now just need to measure to see which of 2 clips I need and whether 15” or 18” is best. As you said, Can’t beat that for support.

I sent them back measurements but I personally haven't followed up since.
So ask them about it, and see if they plan on redesigning it or not.
The gap doesnt bother me that much.

I am going with a clip on.

I got the clip on version for driver side installed this past Sunday. Agreed on the thing is well made.
Slight issue with the clamp not able to wrap around fully due the the thick oem visor. But still very secure. Also now the oem visor sags about 1/4” from roof - I guess because of the added weight. Hardly noticeable.
The permanent install version do look very clean. But I didn’t want to remove the factory visor.

18 would be too wide and interfere with rear view mirror. Mine is 15. 16 would be perfect if they offer it.
