What are these threaded holes for on the OEM skid plate?

I've been looking on this site and haven't been able to find out why the OEM skid plate (plate covering oil pan bolt) has two (2) threaded holes. Does Toyota make another stamped skid plate for the transmission? My 2014 4Runner TE only came with the engine skids.

Thanks! I wonder if that help deflect small rocks from hitting the transmission pan.
