5k oil changes are fine. what's important is you also change brake, diff, transfer, and transmission fluids regularly. keep the engine and cabin air filters clean too
I don't really believe in replacing parts as a preventative measure if they are working fine. the only time I'd do this for example is if I'm doing the brakes and want to replace old rotors or something. replacing an alternator, might as well do the drive belt while you're in there is another one I'd do. I wouldn't just order a new alternator because mine is 11 years old and swap it just in case
with an older vehicle regular checks in the engine bay and underneath will help spot early issues before they become big issues. 4runners are pretty good and beefy. they can take a lot of abuse and neglect and keep going. if you don't drive much do at least 1 oil change per year. don't overthink it, your rig has lasted a long time, just keep doing what you're doing
