Great timing for this thread to find the front pages, thanks for sharing experiences and raw data on the AFE intake and tunes. The local-ish shop of the Overland Tailor Tuning network will be in town next month and plan to get my '21 set up. I'd read the AFE intake was the best butt dyno option from around the interwebs, good to see it backed up for us not-paying-SC-money peons.

Just curious...did you get the MAF calibrator installed as well as the 76mm TB??
I installed the MAF calibrator first and it made a noticeable difference matching the actual A/F ratio to the actual flow of the TRD intake.
FWIW I have the 76mm TB on order as I type this...Will report back once it is installed.
NOTE: I am retired so I will NOT paying for dyno runs...I will do my best to describe the noticed changes (good or bad) once the TB is installed.

Yes, I am running the MAF calibrator and the TB, I actually bought the AFE MAF calibrator but have not installed it yet

But yeah anything over half throttle you hear it, but set cruise and it’s totally gone. I’m pretty happy with it. Some things came up and haven’t been able to get a tune on it but it’s still out there on the list.

Just to clarify, Are you gaining 1-1.5 MPG (per gallon) or 1-1.5 per tank fill up?
Thanks!

btw to the OP; i hopped in the wife's 4runner the other day and drove it, saw the mpg average......13.7 lmao, i hate you dude, 19 is wild.
i've got the itch back to mess around with the minivan some more, so maybe the throttle body and AFE intake is on the table?

So..as promised, here is my take on the "76mm Throttle Body paired with the URD MAF Controller" and TRD CAI.
I installed the MAF Controller about two weeks before the 76mm T.B. This addition alone smoothed out the engine as it runs up through the upper RPM band (3500+) It also cost me about .75 MPG in around town, short trips of less than 10 miles one way.
Added the 76MM T.B. and noticed a change in the overall behavior of the engine while getting on to the freeway and up to the 75 mph speed limit.
Even my wife noticed the difference. she said "that the engine sounded like it isn't working as hard". We run 4.88 gears so the DVVTI comes on anytime I am accelerating hard above 3500ish. Once up on the freeway I was cruising along at 84mph without even realizing it.
While I have no way to prove this, it seems that the 4.0, is limited in the amount of air and/or fuel that Toyota allows the engine to have in the upper rpm power band as the truck comes stock.
By adding the additional fuel (MAF Controller) and air (76mm T.B.) I now have sufficient air/fuel flow to allow the 4.0 to not have to gasp for air above 3500+ rpm.
Is it "worth it"? To me yes. The 4Runner (mine) weighs 5690 lbs thanks to the mods, with me, my wife, and a full tank of gas. when we hook up the Airstream we cross 9000lbs easily. Even if these two mods help just a little bit under towing loads, I will happily take it!
Next up: Full "Spec-U" cat to tailpipe exhaust. Time to get the stock exhaust joke off the 4Runner...

SO..this is where all of the fun with a 4Runner has been hiding!!
I added the full URD Spec-U exhaust to the URD MAF Controller and the AfE 76mm throttle body.
WOW...if you tow regularly and are not using this setup, you are missing out on an amazing combination of parts. these 3 URD parts coupled with the equal length runners of the high flow custom built exhaust is, just beyond the sum of those 3 parts. Quieter running engine, more power across the rev range, and just a ton more fun to drive. I cant recommend it highly enough.
The exhaust note is a deep rumble. It is the least "V6" sounding exhaust that I have ever heard. The sound does increase with RPM and is notably loud at 3500rpm+ under load. at idle it is almost silent, just a soft rumble...
Leave the "cat back" systems alone, and spring for one of these URD Spec-U exhausts. I'm betting you wont regret it.

equal length runners is pretty sweet. his video on the site sounds bonkers. It's funny, i just was thinking how good the wife's minivan sounds outside the cab with the URD y pipe and magnaflow muffler swap. shame it drones inside the cab.

Hahaha what size tires are on the runner? I’d leave the spacers out. I am not convinced, that goes way back to carb days of when they became effective.
