Pre-Collision System Malfunction

My 2020 4-Runner shows a warning lot on the dash, and the display indicates a "Pre-Collision System Malfunction". The dealer has charged me $152 to look at the truck, $260 to try and recalibrate the sensor (which failed), and now wants $752 more to replace the sensor. With a one year warranty on the new sensor. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a way to disable this function and have the warning in the display disappear? I see this becoming a money black hole. The sensor is mounted in the front bumper, I suspect the car wash may have knocked it out of whack, and will continue to do so.

So what was the warranty on the original sensor? Seems like it should be covered on a 2020 model year. For those prices, I'd look at what independent, repair or body, shops would charge.

Depends on when your 2020 was purchased and what you're mileage is. For instance, I'm at 45000 miles with a November 2019 purchase on mine. WAY past the crappy 3 year, 36000 mile warranty Toyota provides...

PCS issue

Hey, I know this is an old thread but I also have this issue and can't get it fixed. Took it to both dealerships where I live (Charleston, SC) and both said they could not fix my pcs malfunction on my 2021 4 runner as I have a non-Toyota lift(1.5-inch spacers) and my 4 runner has more of a "leveled" look. Took it to a couple of auto shops but no luck, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?
Edit: also have larger tires 34 inch rough terrain tires

the leveling of the truck, lift and bigger tires can interfere with the radar sensor because you are changing the angle. some people, but not everyone, have reported issues with PCS in other toyotas as well. this link might help you. you can have toyota disable the system I do believe

Ooh I like the sound of disabling it. And the annoying light that says it’s turned off.
