Keep OEM TPMS?

I'm getting ready to order suspension, wheels, and tires. My question is, should I have the tire shop remove the OEM TPMS and install those in my new wheels or is a TPMS a TPMS, generic just as good? Pretty sure the originals are Denso but want to double check to see if it's worth whatever fee they charge to remove the old ones.

Using the OEMs would also allow me to sell the stock Off Road wheels and tires separately, which may help get them sold, maybe.

Thanks.

Local tire shop recommended new TPMS sensors

For what it's worth, my local independent tire shop strongly recommended new sensors over the ones that were original equipment on my 2021 ORP. Besides saying that the new ones were smaller and lighter, which probably isn't important, he said he's seen far fewer leaks at the valve stem with new stems and sensors.

By the way, I'd be sure that the new spare gets a TPMS sensor. The place I originally bought my latest set of tires reused all five factory stems and sensors. I recently discovered that the factory full-size spare didn't have a TPMS sensor so my new spare didn't either. I had one installed, and the dash of my '21 now shows the pressure of all five tires.

When I got new wheels and tires, they switched over the OEM no charge, no biggie. Since yours is a 2021, no need to replace what isn’t broken. I doubt the OEM sensors are bad units or would leak. I think they’re just trying to sell you on them for profit.

2023 actually with 200 miles on it, for sure they're still good. I'll just be incurring an additional charge for the shop to removed the sensors from my old wheel/tire setup since I'm adding new wheels and tires.

Thanks and good call on the spare tire sensor.

people have had issues with non OEM sensors and getting them programmed. if you want to keep the TPMS just reuse the OEM sensors. they generally last a long time. my RX had all 4 sensors go within 2 weeks of each other - 13 years they lasted, since new so can't complain. denso sensors are good, never had any issues with them. my 4runner lasted 10 years before I swapped my rims and ordered new sensors and the original ones were still working fine

When I swapped my rims the shop reused the 4 OEM sensors and added theirs for the spare. The only one that has failed is the non-OEM sensor. Anecdotal data point of one, but I'll probably pick up a Toyota branded sensor myself and have them install it when I go in for re-balance/rotation.

Thanks, I'm going to stop by Discount and talk to them about busting my stock beads and reusing my OEMs. Most likely sell the tires and wheels separately then.
