Possible sunroof switch short or something else?

Both the slide and tilt sunroof switches in my 2014 Limited have recently started working intermitently; they either both work or both don't. Could I have a short in the wiring, or is this likely the motor starting to go out? For now, the problem seems to resolve itself when the 4Runner is turned off and back on (kind of like my back-up camera that also sometimes doesn't work until I turn the 4Runner off and back on).

Has your 4Runner ever been in a flood? I've never seen or heard of a Toyota Moonroof motor going bad.

It sounds like corroded electrical connections to me.

Since it effects both switches, the problem will probably be the power feed to the switches. Try re-seating (removing then replacing) the fuse for the sunroof. Could be a simple as corroded contact on the fuse.
