Matte black front section hood scoop to replace the factory scoop on a trail edition

I would like to replace the factory front part of my hood scoop on my 4Runner trail with a matte black front. My question is there are a lot of brands out there on the web. Does anyone recommend a particular company to purchase? Toyota does not offer a factory matte black replacement for the scoop.

Why not paint the existing one flat black? There is lots of good quality paint out there.

Toyota offers the black (painted) TRD scoop insert that fits perfectly. I picked up the entire kit (76181-35080-KIT) for about $107 and installed it on my 2013 TE. Fit like a glove.

This fellow does a great walkthrough. I used this on mine: 5th Gen 4Runner | Hood Scoop Swap to TRD PRO Hood Scoop | Easy Mods | - YouTube

You'll need the five stick-on gaskets he references as well. Here was my total order from Conicelli, with all correct parts:

76181-35080 Hood Scoop $63.64 1 $63.64
76183-35040 2010-2020 Toyota Scoop Protector $1.63 2 $3.26
76183-35030 2010-2020 Toyota Scoop Protector $1.63 2 $3.26
76185-35030 Scoop Protector $2.83 1 $2.83

Also, if shipping cost is prohibitive, go on the Toyota parts site and shop dealers nearby your location. Or ask your local dealer if they'll price match a printed copy. Some will.

When you select "vehicle fitment" on that web site, it says it fits TRD Pro only.

The TRD Pro has a different hood shape than the others.

If you want to put a TRD Pro hood scoop on a non-TRD Pro, you will probably need to replace the whole hood. Has anyone done that? Will a TRD Pro hood fit on the others?

The OE TRD Pro Black Hood Scoop insert will 100% fit a TRD ORP. I have this (and required rubber trim bits) on my 2023 TRD ORP. Fit like a glove.

The “vehicle fitment” filter is only going to show you what was stock on the trim level. Doesn’t mean it won’t fit, just means it wasn’t stock on the ORP.

***That said, you should still confirm fitment. For instance, one important exception to cross-trim level fitment is the TRD Pro Skid Plate if you have KDSS on your ORP. It definitely won’t fit as is (and is a bad idea to trim & install if you expect to do any off road driving). Lots of separate threads on this topic***

PS - @fkheath , the hood with a scoop is the exact same design across trim levels - the color combo of the hood scoop insert is the only cosmetic difference. Now, if someone doesn’t already have a hood with a hood scoop, then your comment is correct

I ordered the kit above and it doesn't have that mesh looking insert thing.

Is that something I can easily remove from my non-black hood scoop and pop it into the new black one?

thanks

Watch the video in the link in post#6 4:40 talks about the grill - is this what you are referring to?
