New Car Shipping - Toyota WTF
I currently have 2 cars under deposit, same color, same trim, almost the same price.
They were both supposed to be ready for delivery last week.
Car #1: arrived in the US 6/20, slated to go through processing, port inspection 6/28, arrive at dealership first week of July. The ETA date to the dealership since, has been pushed back a full 2 weeks, now showing 7/19-7/27.
Car #2: slated to arrive in the US 6/28, go through processing at the port 7/5, arrive at dealership the following week, ready for deliver weekend of 7/14. Port arrival was then delayed until 7/10, the 7/12, and now the ETA says Unavailable in the dealer system.
We've been out of a car for an entire month now and we expected to have one truck in our possession, but here we are still waiting and neither dealership can tell us rhyme or reason why it's taking so long. Anyone else deal with something similar? It's too late to find a different car and my wife is pretty set on a Lunar Rock so finding anything that's on a dealer lot is going to be next to impossible.

Are there any port installed options such as TRD skid plate, roof cross bars, etc? If those have run out of stock, the vehicle can be delayed at the port until they get more stock from the supplier. That exact thing happened to my 4Runner when they ran out of the TRD skid plates. The window sticker will show those; your dealer should have a PDF copy of the window sticker since those are produced when the car is manufactured.
Second possibility is a factory hold. If a possible production problem occurs or a suspected faulty component was installed, the vehicle will be held at the port until the problem gets sorted out. That does not happen often with the 4Runner for most problems have been sorted out over time, but it is common problem with the RAV4. Some of those factory holds can last for some time, so be patient.

For the car that's currently landed and waiting on, there's a good amount of port installed options, I'm hoping that's not the case with out of stock items. There's nothing on here that I can't live without. It's just very annoying since we're down to 1 working car in our household and State Farm stopped paying for our rental because of their BS policy (long story).
Not sure what's going on with the car that still hasn't arrived at port.

The ship it is on likely has been delayed. Could be mechanical, longer offload in a port along the way, etc

... In addition to the aforementioned delays at the port of entry, most all imported vehicles are shipped by rail from the ports of entry to distribution centers around the country. Once loaded onto a railcar at the port of entry, it can take several days or even weeks to be delivered to the distribution center nearest your dealership, depending on other rail traffic, etc.. Then, it has to wait at the local distribution center to be loaded onto a truck and delivered to the dealership. In other words, there are all sorts of potential delays in between the port of entry, and your dealership. Last fall I ordered a new Lexus GX in early October, with expected delivery in mid-November... I finally took delivery on January 2nd due to various holiday-related railroad delays and a shortage of truck transport drivers. An estimated delivery date is just that - estimated.
Hope you don't have to wait much longer, but don't be surprised if it ends up taking a lot longer than expected.
Good luck.

Oh man, your car shipping odyssey sounds like a saga for the ages! I can practically feel your frustration through the screen. Waiting on not one, but two cars? That's like a double whammy of patience testing.Honestly, I totally get your pain. Remember when I was in a similar boat last year? The anticipation was killing me! It's crazy how time flies when you're carless.Have you ever considered heavy equipment hauling services? I stumbled upon this gem of a guide at https://comparethecarrier.com/blog/best-heavy-equipment-hаuling/ – it might offer some interesting options to explore.

I'm sure it's frustrating, but you may have to pony up and rent something short-term. You are not paying for or making payments on the new ones yet, so it might be unavoidable to have to do this. I'm not making light of your situation, but ordering 90-100K worth of specifically optioned imported cars tells me that you probably have the means to figure out a stop gap measure until they arrive.

Delivery Port Problems
I'm in a similar boat, my 4 Runner has been "Processed" at the Port since 7-3-2023. The dealer cant tell me anything other than that. At this point I wonder if my ORP is damaged in some way. I hope it is not waiting on a part or something. Most of the ones I have seen come thru have several of these items. Unless it is something in the wilderness package. I did not order it this way but the OE is
MR Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof 630.00
QD Keep It Wild Savings -750.00
81. Wilderness Package 494.00
D8. Hitch Ball Mount 65.00
DK. Owner's Portfolio
LN. High Performance LED Fog Lights - Black 185.00
NA. Dual USB Power Port Charger Front 129.00

Wow I feel your pain My lunar rock ORP with KDSS and moonroof arrived at the port of Long Beach 7/31 and it's still being "processed" with no port installed accessories - a guy in Albuquerque said after his 4Runner without any port installed accessories was processed on 7/15 it sat in Long Beach for three more weeks waiting to be loaded on the train!
What's in the Wilderness package?

Not much it seems - but likely is all port installed. I don't think the cargo tray is the "slide-out" option.

Actually it does look like the wilderness package includes a slide-out cargo tray

Sure looks like it has two handles and a release lever, and the description says it can be customized to slide out past the rear bumper

Please provide me a link that shows that the "heavy duty" cargo tray is not a slide-out - I've never heard of this but I've been wrong b4 and u seem to be an expert on this subject
