Stuck calipers are possible. Happened to me.
You will still be able to stop but the pads wouldn't retract as mentioned.

Even if it's a year old, we don't know how the OP uses it. He could be driving through salt water on the beach every week.
I wouldn't ignore what the dealer said. Brakes are the most important system. Check it for yourself or have an independant shop do it.

Brake drag

The bigger issue I have seen with brake calipers is not evenly clamping. The piston is well protected by a boot, so it moves, but the outer pad has to move on the sliding pins. If they seize, the inner pad pushes on the rotor but the outer one doesn't. This makes the inner pad wear faster. Sometimes you can wear completely through that pad while the outer pad looks fine. There are little boots on the pins that should keep them from getting corroded. Your new vehicle should go through a full set of pads before this is an issue. Sometimes when people replace brake pads they don't replace all the rubber pieces too and they Crack open from age. This is usually when it's a problem.
