Where is the wireless door lock tuner?
I have a 2013 4runner that had a sunroof leak. The water mostly ran down the driver side A pillar and damaged the body control module. I was unable to get one of these from Toyota, but did get one from a used parts dealer. Replacing it restored all of the functions of the vehicle except the keyless door lock. Oddly, the immobilizer and starting functions were never affected. I would like to get the keyless entry to work again. When troubleshooting the the vehicle the only fault code was B1242. It seems the CAN is not communicating with the wireless tuner. Is this likely a fault with the tuner itself or something that still needs programming to match to the BCM? I also found conflicting information on where the tuner is. Some sources say it's above the headliner and some show it in the middle of the dash behind the radio. One other piece of information is that the tuner will chirp if i hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob at the same time for several seconds. This tells me that the tuner does receive signals from the fob, but it could still be faulty in its communication circuit with the CAN. If anyone can tell me where it is on that model it would be of great help.
