I paid 50% of what the dealer wanted who sold the car. I am not sure how his prices are set, so if you are interested it is worth getting a quote.

I just purchased a similar Toyota Platinum 10 year 100k miles warranty with $0 deductible from Jerry Johnson as well. I have a feeling he offers everyone the same absolutely great deal!
I also called Jerry back in 2013 as well when I bought my first 5th Gen. Same guy, same awesome service. Here it is 2024 and I wanted to get myself the last of the v6 5th Gens. Jerry came through with another great deal on a Toyota Platinum warranty.
For those who might think these warranties are a big waste of $$$, I will simply relate my story. On my 2013, I went through 5 door lock actuators on all 4 doors. Actually, had to replace the actuator on driver's door 2x. That alone paid for the warranty plus. So, as someone else stated before, it's only a bad deal if you pay too much.
Not much goes wrong on these 5th Gens, but the bumper to bumper warranty is really nice to have.
God Bless Jerry for his exceptional customer service!

Another great thing about the Toyota Platinum warranty is that you get the prorated amount back if you cancel, less a $50 processing charge.
Say you buy a 10 year/100K from Jerry for $1,360 and then end up trading at 7 years/70K miles. You can cancel the warranty and get back 30%, less $50, which would be a check in the mail to you from Toyota for $358.
I've done this, and there were no questions asked. Took about six weeks to get the check.

I have worked with Jerry on three vehicles. Very Significant savings, and pleasant to work with. He's a very busy man, and I suspect getting even busier. I first learned about him on a Tundra Forum.... Patience is required, in my experience, he always got back to me.

extended warranties can work out in your favor but the odds are against you. they are a revenue stream for dealers and often very high margin, as seen by the deep discounts mr jerry johnson is able to provide- and still make it profitable for the dealership
my 4runner is 12 years old, about 165k miles and I have not had one repair that would have been covered by the platinum plan. I always choose to self insure unless legally I can't
at the end of the day if an extended warranty helps you sleep at night knowing a major repair won't cost you thousands then go for it, however unlikely that is of occurring. it's basically the cost of piece of mind, because chances are you will not need that coverage
tire warranties, rust modules, extended warranties etc. those add ons are the most profitable part of a dealership in terms of margin. all just different and creative ways to sell piece of mind

You are one data point against many that would argue against it. Id suggest you go over to the high mileage 5th gen thread to see how few would be able to justify the warranty after clearing 100k and much farther with few issues.
"High Mileage" 5th Gen
Personally I had a serp belt replaced at 98k as preventative.
One Front Axel seal at 123k
Spiral Cable at at 141k
Not at 170k with no other major repairs, not worth it for me. Glad yours panned out in your favor but remember the dealer wouldn't offer it at any price if it was ever not profitable overall for them.

I don't buy extended warranties on vehicles, so all I can say is do what you need to feel comfortable on your vehicle purchase. I will say here I have been driving both Honda and Toyota products for the last 25 years and not needed an extended warranty for repairs. I will also say here I trade my vehicles every 5 years and the mileage is around 50-70 thousand miles on them, plus I pay cash when I trade vehicles.

Also note that ~95%+ of the 100K+ mile 4Runners on the road don't have a radar sensor, four cameras, blind spot monitors, etc on them. If any one of those devices has a hiccup, your warranty paid for itself.
