Rear Coil/Spring Recommendations For Smoother Ride

Hi folks, I have a 2020 ORP w KDSS with a OME lift with medium coils and Dirt King upper CA's. Recently, I have just began to get a little sick of how harsh it rides, mainly in the rear. I originally purchased the medium coils with big plans of adding more armor, roof rack, etc, however, the news of our son on the way put major delays to this!

I do not mind the front so much, but it does seem the medium coils or even just the OME shocks make it ride quite stiff on highway trips or rough roads in the rear. Do you all have any recommendations or advice on either changing shocks, coils, or BOTH to something more reasonable for on road use for the rear? I do understand any performance suspension will be stiffer, but this just seems a bit too stiff being I am factory weight in the rear. I have read OME shocks can be quite stiff, perhaps start there? Maybe just the coils, etc?

Thanks in advance for any experience!

I have the eibach 1” rear springs. About 10% stiffer than stock. I also put a 1” spacer on them and didn’t notice any difference in ride quality. They are pretty soft and I don’t plan on changing them. You should also look into the icon 2” springs. They are a similar spring rate.

I use these on my 2010 Trail with KDSS and no extra armor and it rides well.

I also have the Eibach 1" springs (E30-82-071-01-02) and like them a lot. Previously I had Dobinsons C59-599 1.5" springs but pulled them because the lift was too high, more like 2". The Dobs weren't harsh, but when I switched I noticed the ride of my usually unloaded 4Runner was just a bit smoother which I found more to my liking.

everything is going to be stiffer than stock, and if you plan on adding armor, or have a large weight differences between daily driving and weekend camping...prepare to make some compromises.

Reach out to @Crikeymike y for your rear spring needs. I highly recommend dobinson's, because they have both linear and variable spring rates and custom spring rates available. I went with toytec super flex to dobinson's and don't plan on changing out my springs ever.
